John Meadows is an American professional bodybuilder and entrepreneur with an intriguing story. While John now boasts a successful career as an IFBB Pro bodybuilder and fitness company owner, his journey towards the top was extremely difficult.
Growing up, John never met his father, and his mother died at an extremely young age. This meant John only had his grandmother to take care of him. When his grandmother tragically passed away in 1999, John was left alone without his family to support him.
As the years went by, John continued to face new adversities in his life. During his early days in bodybuilding, John suffered from a rare colon disease. After fighting the disease for several months, his colon burst - almost resulting in his death. Luckily, John was quickly rushed to an emergency room where his life was saved. After several months of recovery, John was finally back on his feet.
Coming back into bodybuilding, John used the very obstacles that almost cost him his life as ‘fuel’ to grow stronger. Ever since he recovered from the colon surgery, John has gone on to become a successful bodybuilder, entrepreneur, and inspiration for many people all over the world.

As someone whos underweight, you have to develop a muscle to connect with in the first place!
@danp8309
@danp8309 5 лет назад
I agree, not sure if it’s bro science or not though. I noticed a direct correlation between lagging body parts and mind-muscle connection. I noticed once I started isolating a bit and developing more muscle, my mind muscle connection improved and I completely blew up from that point on.
@242pwrlftr
@242pwrlftr 5 лет назад
Agreed! Once you really know what the muscle does, such as adducting the humerus across the body, it is much easier to find the mind-muscle connection. I always focus on using the muscle to move the weight first and worry about ROM second. When flexing the pecs and bringing the arms towards the middle of the body, there is no need to lockout. As Jay shows, that only takes the tension off the muscle. Good stuff!

It's funny how they perform the execicies in a different way most "sciency lifters" do. You get so caught up on theories and rules that you sometimes forget just to feel the exercice for yourself. I couldn't see that concern about range of motion and concentrics and excentrics and all that shit. Focus on how if feels, on being explosive and keeping the tension on the muscle as much as possible. It confuses the hell out of begginers like me. I should just test them all I guess.

I'm 40 and haven't worked out since I was 18. I use to love it. I think about starting again.

Can you train with Tom Platz? You two know a thing or two about intensity so it would be very entertaining

There was some leg day with John and Tom. I personally got several technical tricks from that session. Need more anyway for sure))

In every video of Jay training ever, his range of motion is half of everyone else. He doesn't care at all about his workouts , he just has the genetics to respond well to the shots.

I like Jay’s ROM, not locking out and keeping tension and kind of isolating the pecs even tho the presses are a compound lift
