Primarily, today's event is a local affair with services running over some of the London Transport route network of the 1960s which operated from High Wycombe Garage. Indeed, many of these services were instigated by the Amersham & District Motorbus Company many, many years earlier. Other services being replicated are as a result of the"Chilternlink" network restructuring which occurred in 1980, unbelievably this was implemented over forty years ago - and to some of us, it still seems like yesterday! The potential thus exists for an enjoyable day to be had travelling on a good variety of different routes and vehicle types of differing ages - we do hope that you enjoy your day!
At this year's event, a few more "modern" vehicles will be in operation reflecting types seen during the last years of the previous millennium as well as others, some of which date back seventy years and served the area so well.
In post-war years, London Transport's green country buses and Green Line coaches were seen mainly to the east and north-east of the town. They were operated from garages at Amersham, Romford, Staines and Windsor as well as the garage situated at the bottom of Marlow Hill in Queen Alexandra Road.
