As a respiratory therapist it's always interesting listening to other medical professionals talk about vents. I wish more/all docs knew and understood at least the basics of ventilator mechanics. So thanks 💜💜 Except, nursing drawing ABGs? 😞

Would’ve been nice if he even mentioned us RT’s (like he did nurses). The disrespect is common.

Christ, as a rural FM resident who frequently just has to figure shit out on the fly, this content is amazing. I tried to get an RT at our rural hospital to explain vent settings once, and their reply about how to avoid barotrauma was essentially "oh we havent been worrying about that since the 90s". Like, thanks, I know you KNOW how to do it, but when its 3am and you arent here but I am, I sure would like to know.

What does high yield mean in this context? A dense guide? Is this commonly used medical student terminology?

Agreed - it was kind of what was just done at our institution, but after I posted a text version of this guide several people also pointed this out as being unnecessary!
