Highbury and Islington station, London.
Note that film is in 4:3 format and does not have black borders - I added these to the film icon image to prevent the top and bottom from being cropped.
A look at the station, the trains, etc using video and still images which I've taken over the years.

It's a useful video to explain how the station has altered especially the way the upstairs platforms have changed so much.

16.35 Was nice to see my old school Laycock Secondary Boy's in the background. Attended there from 1956 to 1961. We used to look out of the windows on the top floor and watch the Steam Engines go by, great times

I never thought I'd see the day that these stations would be improved so much.

A very interesting contrasts video here Simon, you've definitely captured a lot throughout the eras!

Thanks Alex. There should have been more 1990's footage but the station staff stopped me filming. In 2012 I was stopped by a plain clothes copper who put me through a full stop n search routine (for filming trains!) with some truly obnoxious PCSO's who behaved if it was all a joke. ugh, life will be hellish if these people get draconian powers later this year - if the banking Basel 3 Financial Reset results in martial law here with all bank savings & safety deposit box contents confiscated.

Modern tunnels like on the JLX & DLR extensions are oversized but I think that is for disabled evacuation along a ledge.

Mostly the platform was in good condition when I went to Highbury and Islington. Yes, mainline First Capital Connect Class 313s still operates from Overhead DC and 3rd rail shoe. They do run without the 2 but not recommended by First Group

Did the 1967 stock have any visual differences from the 1972, other than the moquette and pole colour?

there were loads of class 313s in this one

Thanks for the vid, was actually on the victoria line today at highbury and islington. I happened to look across to platform 4 but the shutters were up, do the mainline trains still run there these days?.

Some of the cars are 1972mk1 but in the middle as they did not have ATO installed.

Enjoyed your video but I believe you are incorrect about the running tunnels at Highbury & Islington.

There seems to be a helluva gap between Third Rail and OLE on platform 2. Is that short enough to raise a pantogrpah while the last shoe is in contact with the third rail? Or is the gap enough to coast through. I know there are current problems that can arise between the two systems. At least at Acton, there's a fair overlap.

Are there any dual voltage version of Class 378s in which they can switch from DC to Ac and Vice-Versa like some of their Class 377 brothers

2.01, the line between Moorgate to Finsbury Park was opened in 1904 for the Metropolitan Line, later Northern City, The what is now Great Northern franchise stayed as British Rail Network South East In 1975, after the dreadful Moorgate disaster, when a 1938 tube train hit a Moorgate platform at full speed.

Would've been much more interesting if you had filmed walking down holloway rd in the 1990's compared to walking down the same road in 2012.

The ELL 378s have no Pantographs so that means that some 378s are not compatible with other lines?
