Good analysis Harshavardhan. Keep it up. Govt and Establishments not interested in giving details of likely pension to pensioners. After death of pensioner and spouse the corpus of pensioner is not returned to next of kin of pensioner. It will be enjoyed by EPF. Letters are not clearly mentioning the procedure of depositing money to EPFO authority. So if a person has corpus, it is better to buy annuity or invest in any other instrument giving good intrest.

Sir how intelligent person like you overlook the EPFO internal circulation DTD 14.02.24. It clearly states 25:42 that whether you retired in 2020/21/22 pension will be calculated on pro rata.

Very detailed & informative analysis, Sir. I have 3 queries: 1. For how many previous years can we claim benefit under sec. 89 of IT Act on arrears? 2. Is there any provision for exemption or rebate in IT Act on the amount that we have to refund to EPFO before getting arrears - OR is it one way traffic only? 3. I retired on 16.9.2014. Shall I also be placed in the similar category of 'beneficiaries' who retired post 1.9.2019, as pro-rata in my case shall be quite negligible (15 days + 59.5 months)?

Shri Harshwardhan Thanks for the explanation and making it very simple to grasp. However I am not clear about the breakeven. After deduction of pension received and IT liability at 30.04% (315583) net amount remains is Rs.467900. as against payment was made of Rs.613241/- which means excess payment of Rs.145341 was made (excl further int cost). This excess amount divided by additional pension works out to 19.65 months or 1.64 Years. Am I correct

Epfo crooks surprise me why they didn't calculated pension with 2005 one adding 730days here and then upto 31 aug 14 and then after this. For all calculation the crooks should take 60 months average. But I have a request to the Union and state ministry to implement this pension system to all MPs MLA s and all government pensioners immediately

CORRECT, but there's going to be only a very marginal difference in the pension amount as both the methods are quite similar. I have calculated my pension based on both the formulas and the pension is more or less the same.

Probably you have not gone through the latest mail of 14th Feb given to all the Zonal Officers explaining the formula with example on how to calculate pension for post 2014 retirees. Also you have shown the template of Shri Parveen Kohli circulated in the past. Shri Kohli has circulated another template the next day. You have taken into account a PPO issued manually during January 2024 in Karnataka. I wonder whether the view held by you on Pro rata computation is correct.

Your part 1 & part II formula is not correct. Part I : 12 mths avg salary prior to 01.09.14. And Part II : Max 60 months avg salary or less then 60 months avg salary service whihever is applicable.
