I worked on a grounds screw while I went to college. This is the one job I’d do for free. Loved going from being there at sunrise to mow greens and come back to play a round of golf late in the evening.
I've done everything in this video. Working on a golf course is a relaxing job. I loved starting greens at 5 30 am using a john Deere hybrid greens mower and smokin by the time the sun comes up
such a great job to have. being part of a groundskeeper crew at a golf course. you're working outside and get a nice work out and your surrounded in nice scenery.
Scott Smelko The assholes don’t care...but it always feels good when you get appreciative golfers who give you a “Thataboy!” for a well-maintained course. I may be spoiled bc we get more understanding and appreciative types than assholes. Lol
Most golfers had jobs like this themselves as teenagers and appreciate the work done. While playing, we are concentrating on our game, and not usually paying attention to ongoing work/workers. However, most players are very much aware that a tremendous amount of work goes into keeping a course in top condition and appreciate the job that gets done.
Great video! Very well explained, i too work on a golf course and the daily maintenance on the course is tiresome but worth it, but it seems you've got the right people doing the right jobs, i along with two others work on an 18 hole course, not so much in the way of bunkers, but big fairways and roughs, we use two 4500s to mow roughs, two fwys units on fwys, we don't walk mow greens, it's too time consuming, anywho i could keep going but that's enough for now,
So interesting, I work in the kitchen at a golf course. Honestly I’d prefer to be doing this, seems like I’d have so many opportunities to move up. Wow! Great content. 🙏
I'm currently retire and work at a course part time. We do somethings the same and somethings different. I enjoyed the video and have learned something.
I haven't been a greenkeeper now for 27 years ...In 1994 when I finished at our local 9 green/18 tee course with a lawn bowls green also to maintain we were struggling financially . All I had was the following ...Two 24 " Series 65 Scott Bonnar greens mowers and the 30 " electric bowls mower ..A triple gang Ransomes fairway mower (wheel drive) pulled by a general use tractor . Ride on surrounds mower , two Honda lawn mowers , a Flymo mower , Multicore aerator for hollow or solid tynes , a scarifyer , 150 litre spray unit , two brush cutters , line trimmer , hedge saw , chainsaw , petrol powered roller , mower transport trailer , heavy slasher P.T.O drive ...and all the normal hole changer and hand tools ...Now the club has some Toro , John Deere , Kubota and other grooming tools and soon to replace the triplex greensmower with a near new reconditioned one ..Just the same I miss every second of working on the golf course that I'm now a life member of but still love to be involved with working bees and projects whenever they occur ...Really enjoyed this video very much...Thanks for posting ..
I work on a 36 hole course, but on the equipment maintenance side of things. It’s me and the head equipment manager and it’s really hard to maintain all of the equipment it doesn’t help the workers here are very hard on the equipment. Just very careless in general. Constantly leaving trash on the equipment and putting away things that need repair without telling us. The schedule is nice imo. 5am to 1pm can’t beat that.
How does “burn in the lines” on a fairway affect the way the turf grows? I’ve been told to treat the fairway like a green, which we try to mow in a different pattern each time.
10:40 I am a member of a club in Florida and for the last five years the board on the first hole has indicated the greens are 11 on the stimp. That number has NEVER changed which is very frustrating because some days the greens roll at 9 and some days they roll at 13! Needless to say, our grounds supt. should take lessons from this supt!
Dan Tannehill yes but the sprouts were about 3 inches long. It would be good if the sand was being used that day or soon but after about a week In a warm box the sprouts were kinda to long.
...u guys need email and an outlook calendar. The scheduling board is tarded. U can set your week and have everyone see others time off along with events. U can even make on the fly changes...everyone on the planet has a smart phone. It would be all too easy
Why not just take the whole plug? You can still fill it out or brush off some sand from the bottom of the plug if it's not flush... Never seen a hole changed like that
1:51 goddamn Jesse the no show really fucking up and making warren do all the work. Don’t do drugs kids 2:10 Sabrina don’t mess around. 4 cups of coffee before every meeting
Good Idea behind the video but spoilt by too much background noise and lack of editing see Matthew Silgar rice farming TV to see how to create great videos and Juan Browne both great RU-vid brodcasters
Walk mower guy has zero technique and is doing it incorrect (hand/feet movement). We walk mow our greens every day, 6 mowers and hand rake 57 bunkers. Also a cup setter is made so there is no mound, you don’t need your feet to level it out. Mowing tees 5 times a week? Don’t think that’s an efficient time/money management thing when you complain about time for projects. And a consistent lunch at 11? No way people are going to get done around the same time. My god
@Mario Ernst he shouldn't need to slow down. I hand mow with full revs and turn no problem. Everyone is different and has a different technique. So no such thing as the wrong way
Why in the world would you want to “burn” in a pattern on fairways. Healthy turf will stripe very vibrant with one good mow. Maybe learn how to grow turf grass and how to maintain fairway mowers properly.
I'd be putting more emphasis on health and safety, this video is full of infractions that would result in fines if the MOL showed up. For starters, I didn't see a single person wearing hearing protection, or their seatbelts.
From the courses I've worked on I've never seen a working seatbelt on a machine. I also wouldn't want to be strapped in when the greens mower goes slipping into a creek because the slopes wet on the turn around. Rarely happens but I've seen it twice.
GhoulRomance Hard hats are a liability. Golfers think you are safe and hit at you rather than wait patiently for the workers “ signal to go” Seat belts are unsafe for the same reason. Plus IF you are in a tip-over situation the first thing that would happen is your hardest would fall off, then you would land on your bare head with a mower on top of you strapped to your ass. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, just keep shut up
@@wjfaflak I've worked 2 PGA courses in Texas and have seen these things happen. Mowers slide into creeks and flip, people are idiots, especially golfers. I'm advocating against seatbelts and hard hats. Waste of time and unsafe, I also dont know why anyone would need a hard hat. I've been hit by golf balls on a fairway mower. I can almost say with certainty that the regulars playing every single day on most courses are terrible at the game, and are more likely to hit you when you are in the woods waiting g for them to hit than if you just stay in the middle.
@@wjfaflak I've been working in golf for years. You clearly don't understand how ROPS work. I won't argue with your opinion on hardhats, I can't stand them myself. That said, golfers tend to be rude enough to hit at you, with or without a hardhat. My point was less about the function of safety equipment and more about the lack of it in the video. If I was making a video showing how we do things at our course, I'd want to make sure we were using the required PPE and working safely. But I'll just keep shut up, cause I don't know what I'm talking about. Since you managed to decide form my short comment that I have zero experience or knowledge on the issue. Have a nice day.
I know there is a ton of people who love playing golf. And I’m sure it’s a fun challenge for them but I cannot see my self Chasing a ball around a cow pasture
That cause you have never seriously attempted to try it. If you ever did, your ignorance would be lifted. Not too many people who have tried playing (actually tried) and disliked it. Thats why so many people love it.
