Doing this comparison with a long list of drawn numbers vs. just one row at a time is my goal. I've seen programs that do it but there's got to be a free way.
Hi Contextures. Thanks for these tutorials. I am using conditional formatting as you have in the video. On some sheets in the same workbook, it works perfectly. In other sheets, it does not highlight the data I want to check. In these sheets, if the first value in the reference cell (your number 3) is the same as the active cell in the data (your number 2) then all the cells are highlighted. Could you please give an explanation for this and a workaround? Take care.
You're welcome, and check the Conditional formatting formula. It sounds like there's an absolute reference to that first value's column ($C$3), instead of a relative reference (C$3)
Just to say thanks, I have got back into Excel the past few days, as I wanted a lottery checker. I have done the opposite of your demo, I have one sheet for my tickets and one sheet for the drawing. I have a formula to check for the maximum numbers matched on one line, but I have used this example so that when I enter the drawn numbers if I have that number in my tickets, the drawn section turns blue. It is just an added feature, as you could have all balls, but not in one line. I tried it out tonight, but sadly only one turned blue, still always next drawing.
Hi, Contextures. Can Conditional Formatting identify particular hours? I have a schedule of hours when classes are given. Can condition formatting be used to highlight the current hour? Thanks!
from your example how can I get the list of the position number. in your example 15 is in the first ticket and the second but if I want to know the position of each number before and got the list, how is possible to do that
Hello all I am trying to do this but my PC Excel 2007 it is not working? untill range selecting is well after "COMMA" it is not working anyone has idea? please help me
This is a fantastic video. Basically creating your own search engine. I have a question about the second method. How do I get excel to display the tickets with the most matched numbers first? (and then the ones with the least matched numbers displays last.) Thank You in advance !!
www.contextures.com/xlCondFormat03.html#Lottery I found your tutorial, and used the second part of the tutorial. and then I sort the column by color yellow, which bring all the matching tickets up at the top. Would that be your way of doing it?
Hey, this was a great example..I've been trying to something like this for the longest time..tried it and works great..thank you..but is there a way that you can add how many numbers match to the right and have it also highlight numbers matched for each line..
