As a south African fam that has followed SR since inception, this is match reminded me of the old super 12/14 where rhe Brumbies were quite dominant and always in with a chance. Seeing the last frame amd seeing Larkham in coaches box brought back so many memories of his silky skills . He was one of many superstars on that team.
Back before they created 2 new (and unnecessary) teams and diluted the strength of them individually. If Australia only had the Reds, Tahs and Brumbies then they would be doing so much better. It’s ruined Australian rugby really.
Well the crusaders aint taking it again like the last 100 years lol so why not man i agree, but just remember... putting prawns on a bbq is not a braai, ever .
Will be an all NZ Grand Final, for the third year running. The best thing is that the two-time Super Rugby Pacific champions, the Crusaders, won't be involved.
For the sake of Aussie rugby I hope the Brumbies go the whole way this year. Theyve showed great resilience all season. Charlie Cale needs to be picked for the wallabies.
The South Island Super Rugby Pacific teams have been awful this season. Won't be surprised if one of them gets axed in the near future. An 11 team comp isn't financially sustainable, how will Finals work? 6 teams go through? Either bring back the Sunwolves or Jaguares, or cut another team.
Teams will always have bad performances/seasons in a comp. where there is only one winner. You all can't finish on top. I mean who's gonna say we had a great season but finished last. Someone has to come last no matter the competition model you put in place. It's always a win-lose situation.
Drua have been in the comp for only 3 years and have made the quarters in all of them 😂 , yet all the teams you’ve named haven’t 😂. Stick to watching footy bro
So 3 of the 4 quarters were in New Zealand, and now you have 3 New Zealand teams in the semi and the Brumbies have to go to Auckland. This competition will be dead in two years. As a rugby nation you want to play the best, but when your teams can't see any chance of EVER winning this competition there comes a point where you realize it's more demotivating than doing your teams any good to play in this one sided competition. I also feel this competition has for many years not actually done New Zealand rugby any favors. Go ahead criticize this comment, but my concern is for rugby, and for international rugby and every countries benefit to the sport, I think it's time for a competition like this to allow for player trading across teams and countries so as to better encourage competitiveness.
I fully agree and that’s probably why the South Africans don’t want be part of the super rugby anymore because NZ has the competition under their terms
@@TikoBaleilautoka South Africa was basically booted out by NZ and Oz. Fortunately for SA they had a backup plan with the Celtic league but at the expense of the 2 SA teams that already competed in the Pro12. In the long run SA should be in a better financial position playing in Europe but it will depend on whether the SA government interferes too much politically. Playing Europe also has a lot more rugby across the year, so harder on player welfare. Ideal scenario would be for Super Rugby to have 4/5 NZ, 3/4 Ozzie, 2/3 Saffa, and 2 to 4 more teams from the Islands, Japan and Argentina. Super 14 had a very good balance.
Yes does need to evolve, merging with Japan’s comp might work so it’s more a eastern and western hemisphere conferences while preserving the players from too much jet lag travel
I think it's time for a 2 or even 3 tier world club competition that replaces the URC, Super Rugby, English Premiereship, Champions cup, Challenge cup and French Top 14 with relegation and promotion. We need to see all the top international club teams play each other at least once a year with as little fragmentation as possible. This competition should also run from start to finish without interruption and end about a month before the international season
@NewMavericks can maybe create some Japanese teams but the Japanese league is like the French Top 14, it is about the prestige of besting the others in those leagues. For Japan it is the big corporations and for France the rich owners.
@@sherisecooper4405 no South African teams - ABs have the weakest competition. losing revenue to NRL - NBA taking Super viewers. rugby too slow - very boring. real white man s sport. it s guna be extinct soon - Rebels already out. Chiefs or Otago next to go.
