HIGHLIGHTS | France v Scotland | Summer Nations Series 

I hope Ireland and Scotland get through. I have nothing against South Africa but as an Irish man I have to support my Celtic cousins. Scotland pushed France all the way in Paris in the 6 nations too and the ABs in the Autumn. The makings of a really good team there who plays with confidence and fears nobody. Won't be long before you guys win the 6 nations too. I'll be rooting for you if Ireland don't get through.

​@@kelbatt7729there are levels to this. Right now teams are still preparing for the World Cup so they aren't at their physical peak and losing doesn't have much consequences. These are always serious games but the intensity is clearly not the same as a WC game.

Agree as an Irish fan I'm worried about the Ireland and Scotland match now. Ireland have beaten them 8 times in a row since 2017 but Scotland won't care about history. They play a very nice brand of rugby, full of confidence knowing they can beat anyone on their day and will fully believe they can beat Ireland and South Africa. This really will be the best world cup yet and I'll enjoy it whatever happens.

Many say that South Africa and Ireland will win Pool B but frankly with the combativeness and quality of play of the Scottish, I'm not so sure. We will see but of course this world cup is going to be very interesting and i'll enjoy it too. My regards to our Irish friends 😊

Sorry but it does make sense that France would be behind in their preparation, almost all french internationals were tied to the Top 14 until mid-june while scottish clubs were done with the URC in early may. I did expect France to do better, and tbh they absolutely did. They looked dominant, made a 17-points gap, unlike last week they were able to do so not because Scotland were horrible, but because they were much better than a much improved Scotland. Then they very uncharacteristically crumbled past the hour mark but isn't that what teams in the middle of hardcore physical preparation do? For a team that were playing their first test together since march, I think France did brilliantly. And I think this loss is better for Scotland than their pyrrhic win last week, because they were constantly good throughout the match and they can look forward with a lot more confidence.

Fed up of hearing the excuses from the 'top teams' like France. Versus Italy we got zero credit as we scraped a win (it was not even really noted that we played our reserves). Versus France at home we got zero credit as it was the French reserve side (even though our first team was not fit or played together). Against the French A side away we got zero credit as it was the French As first world cup World warm up game..... Bonkers. Scotland are a very good side and obviously a danger in a very tough group.....

@@paulmcewan2958 Credit? Excuses? You're off-topic mate. These are test matches, not competitive ones. They've got very little value in themselves. Whatever the result is, it is not worth any praise nor excuses, it is just about assessing where you're at a few weeks before the real thing begins. Do you want your team to think they're so good because they beat "France" a man-down ? Do you want your team to be so full of themselves because they did give a run to the (on paper) real France deal ? Do you really want them to go to the World Cup thinking South Africa will definitely give them opportunities in the last 20 minutes, because an out-of-form France did? That wouldn't be too professional though, would it?

@@johnmc3862 They may not have any other choice lol, Scotland and Ireland are on fire, apparently NZ got its act together, we can never underestimate Australia and South Africa, many more underdogs can be dangerous. Even England and Wales can come back to life just for the occasion. A WC changes everything. There is no room for any mistake here but luckily the strength of the French team is the depth of its bench. Now we hope that they will make the right choices and send the right players to the WC, and no injuries among the key players. Which is what those test matches are all about.

I think we’re in a good place - might cause an upset, no real expectation. Looking forward to the pool games, anything else is a bonus.

As an England fan, I agree. This game was on another level altogether to the dross that England and Wales served up. Scotland are so unlucky with the draw, but neither Ireland or SA will relish playing them.

In the FRA v SCO match the Scots fell asleep for a few minutes . In the ENG v WAL match - the World fell asleep for 75 mins- LOL

I don’t know what’s worse, watching England play the most boring, and utterly toothless brand of rugby, or Wales losing to a side that were down to 12 men

Perso, je ne suis pas super confiant pour notre équipe. Je trouve que nous sommes moins efficace en défense, un manque de cohésion et au rythme engagé à la sortie des Ruck par rapport à l'année dernière. pour les écossais, que dire. c'est un ovni dans le rugby celte. Ils sont toujours aussi joueurs, ils aiment toujours autant porter le ballon même dans leur 22. Ce qui différencie l'Écosse depuis 2-3 ans, c'est que dorénavant ils font des match de 80 minutes. Encore mieux, ils finissent leurs matchs comme des morts de faim. Alors qu'avant le rugby s'écroulait toujours dans la première moitié de la deuxième mi temps, et ils subissaient le reste durement. Et puis, il faut dire qu'ils ont une ligne arrière de feu, une très bonne 3ème ligne et une génie un peu branque qui engendre de l'insouciance à ces coéquipiers. Toujours un plaisir de regarder ces rencontres de la auld alliance.

Frankly, given how well they've been playing, and importantly for Scotland as this is what was always lacking, with such consistency, I'm not sure it's unfortunate this time round. Nor for Ireland. Or looking at it from another perspective, it's as unfortunate for Fra, SA and NZ that they're in the same draw as Sco and Irl. Any of those teams can beat each other at themoment. Could be some momentous matches.

Normally I'd agree with you. Scotland seems to be too comfortable with the plucky loser tag. But the late scrum penalty that France kicked for the win should have been a reset. And the last play where the Scots lost the ball forward was an illegal tackle in the air, I though it should have been a penalty Scotland. Nic Berry is flakey
