The moment at 1:45 when the camera captures Sigourney Weaver's amazed, delighted grin ... How must that feel, to see something you did 40 years ago inspiring such devotion and creative energy? No wonder she was so moved. 🤗
Oh I totally did too!! All of those kids did such a amazing job!! And to have Ripley there to watch them!! What a great night for everyone involved!!!👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💜💜💜
I know why: These kids are the best homage to the people behind Alien. They followed the exact same path of figuring out how to do what the story needed to be told. They're talented, they wanted to tell a story, they give their soul to this play, that's why it transcended. That touches us as audience.
It amazing how a film from 40 years ago still inspires people today and it's the same with me. I discovered it on video in 1993 when I was 12 and have loved Alien ever since.
@@robertobuatti7226It was a well timed movie release in 1979 too. The monster alien completely destroyed all the extra-terrestrial goodwill of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and made people afraid again. Ha!
Wow how cool to have Sigourney Weaver attend your school play and show shes still enthusiastic about a film she did 40yrs ago and be very down to earth and not big headed. Awesome.
Yeah, it's the great work they made, with no sponsors, no other support from any studios, just them, with hand made stuff, own talent and inspiration! Perfect play, big experience! Good, guys! They have to create their own theatre, and go on tour, make new plays from other universes, I know they can and wish them only good luck and new creations! Alien rulezzz!
This play... And Sigourney W's surprise appearance... AND Ridley Scott's generous patronage, HAS to be 1000% pure inspiration to the cast and crew. If any of them move on to bigger and better things, it's because they cared! God Bless them!
THIS IS WHY YOU SUPPORT THE ARTS IN SCHOOLS. BECAUSE ONE TEACHER HAD A CRAZY IDEA THAT BECAME AN AMAZING RESULT OF PASSION AND CREATIVITY!! THIS IS JUST SO FREAKING AMAZING! THESE KIDS ARE AWESOME!
Visiting these amazing kids to encourage and appreciate their work on Alien, not many actors and actress are willing to do so. Sigourney has lived up in Riley's name, a role model for those who dare to be explorer in space (in this case perform a show with zero budget). Bravo to her, the kids and their teacher!
Ridley Scott is 100% behind it. I think 20th Century Fox really wouldn't have a problem with it because, even though it might sell tickets, its advertising one of its products.
Now that Disney bought Fox they will ban it retroactively using Avengers time travel. They really would put in that kind of effort, just to fuck some kids over. The mouse gotta eat...
Movie studios often work with schools on things like this. The deal is the school makes no money and only does a limited run and they're allowed to do it. Also Ridley Scott's company owns the rights and he was on board.
So delighted for these creative and innovative kids! Awesome too that Sigourney Weaver visited the cast and crew. Well done! (BTW, was there a Jonesey? I didn't see a Jonesey...)
It's so great to see this movie still inspiring people today. I first saw Alien and Aliens in the early 90s as a teen and me and my friends were amazed, and hooked! We were buying the comics and building the model kits. It's great seeing people reacting to it for the first time and experiencing what I experienced back then. That's a testament to a great story expertly produced with characters so believable we feel like they're real. I'm still amazed how well Aliens especially holds up to modern standards in cinema, that can't be said for a lot of the movies made today based on 90% CGI that's going to look terrible in just 5 years. Let's be real, how many of the massive blockbuster superhero movies being made today are going to even be remembered in 40 years, let alone loved the way this franchise is?
is it scarier if we are alone or not?, great job for the actors to give back to kids, fill their imagination with magic . we all need to be outside the box, we are the new aliens
@@lee.as.in.l.e.e.7394 Hmmm ... "2001: A Space Odyssey ... the School Play" Haha ... you would only need 4 or 5 lead actors, and a bunch of people dressed in chimp costumes .. If a school can present a dismally accurate vision of the future via Alien ... then 2001 is more than possible.
I love that they just got so much support and praise from the original creators and cast. I can just imagine another stage adaptation of a popular film getting a cease and desist.
We need more students in our schools like this and NO MORE SHOOTING EACH OTHER ! Stop the insanity! Get together and craft ideas and make something .... Thank you Teacher and you Mrs Weaver for doing this .....keep it up ! A++++++++
@JOSE CHUNG'S FROM OUTER SPACE! Maybe if teachers made more money you would see more things like this. But the people who love the guns don't want to cough up the money for the teachers. Conservative greedy tightwads.
@JOSE CHUNG'S FROM OUTER SPACE! Obviously they aren't making enough for however many months they are working, fool. Thanks for proving me right about being a selfish tightwad who doesn't give a shit about teachers.
Ad hominem point, that figures. Ok, even if that's true, and it's not always--charter school teachers earn less because they have less experience and no unions-- you still don't support paying teachers more. Because you're a selfish tightwad who only cares about his guns. It's all about you.
Alien was the first R rated movie I had ever seen (I was 14 in Jr high school), my friends were all sneaking into to the theaters to see it so I managed to go too,, Alien scared the shit out of us and the entire country! It was a revolutionary horror movie in that it portrayed normal people trapped in their workplaces facing a terrifying situation,,, what would you do?? Alien scared everyone!!!! These kids and their director and behind the scenes crew deserve their own Academy Award Oscar for this wonderful production!!!
Wow this is incredible! It’s amazing how they used recycled materials to create the costumes and sets. It looked incredible! I bet it was such a fun project to work on. Very cool that Sigourney gave those talented kids a visit! I wish I could see this play!
Rewatching all of this. I’m proud to come from North Bergen high school. I haven’t heard from drama club since this play launched and idk if they will ever do another play again. I look up to the art teacher that created the suits and the xenomorph outfit. Mr. Defindini is highly talented he even worked on power ranger suits and all the iron man masks. Props to my friend who played the xenomorph tho, he had us all quaking in our pants lol
Happy 40th anniversary of ALIEN the movie, and bravo to the students with the play at their school, they shown great talent. Also cheers for Sigourney Weaver for awesome guest appearance, even for her she still shows the female hero spirit.😊👏👏👏😎😌😌😌🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉💫🌟
I saw this play in its entirety (thanks to somebody's mobile phone footage). It was superb! The chestburster scene was astonishing ... I can't believe what I saw! "Alien" has clearly stood the test of time. Sigourney has always been more level headed than her movie characters - and Ellen Ripley is the epitome of cool under severe pressure. I believe that "Alien" and "The Three Little Pigs" and "Cinderella" should all be taught to our children. All should be a school play.
So awesome that they were able to pull this off, and they were no sued into the can ground. You can see all the hard work this kids put into this. I hope they had a great time. Glad it will live on, for them.
I think Ellen Ripley inspired a lot of young people, women especially, who saw the first two movies at impressionable ages. Sigourney Weaver was the perfect actor in the role since she was so different in appearance from others at the time (i.e. blondes like Kathleen Turner, Jessica Lange, Meryl Streep) and her eyes spoke volumes despite her seemingly calm voice & demeanor in the films. It's still amazing to think she was the first female action movie lead actor nominated for an Oscar in 1986 - far ahead of her time. I wish my high school drama club had been so creative! 👩🚀
First off these kids and the play and everyone who took part are amazing, next Sigorny is so classy, finally to the young people just seeing the alien franchise now do you see why we loved these movies and character's for decades its part of our mythology now.
Bonjour ! I am a French fan of Alien...I didn't know this original adaptation of Mr Scott movie...I say BRAVO ! For all the Students and Prof...and for the guest Star miss Weaver ...I give you my Award!.....Phil from Marignane...in the South of France...Salut !
My god. I love this. I watched alien when I was probably 10 . I was terrified but loved it. I lost count how many times I've watched aliens. The best are first and second movie. My god just brilliant
Apparently i went to the WORST highschool ever!XDXDXD can i go back? THAT TEACHER IS THE BEST EVER!!!! I am literally obsessed with the movie, the creature most of all! In its time it was something so unique and amazing and the just perfect Organism! Ridley scott made something amazing and wonder full! And we cant forget Giger! Rip my man thank you for coming up with such a beautiful creature!!
Sigourney Weaver is hands - down my favorite action actress. I admire the character Ellen Ripley because she's smart, capable, can think on her feet, and she survives the worst situation through perseverance and a bit of luck. And she makes sure to not leave the cat behind! That character served as a support and reassurance at a terrible time in my life when I was so frightened. I watched that movie over and over to hold onto courage until I could find the part of me that was Ellen Ripley. Even today, many, many years later I occasionally watch that movie and am struck by how solid that character is. It's my favorite sci-fi/ horror movie. That whole cast was magnificent. For me, Ridley Scott's best sci-fi movie (although I LOVED Prometheus and Alien Covenant, too. The special effects in those later films were jaw-dropping and Michael Fassbender was SO great as the android.)
I remember the first time I saw this movie. My uncle had passed away when I was about 10 and he bequeathed his dvd collection to me and it included all the alien and predator movies. One night I turned off all the lights and put on “Alien” it seemed interesting because the cover shows nothing but an egg hatching which I thought was interesting and it caught my attention. When you first see it you never know who’s gonna survive or live and that’s what I love about it keeps you guessing no matter how many times you watch it. Needless to say 10 year old me was terrified but investing In the franchise.
