Keith Boyce ~ not mentioned often but a superb all round cricketer.Beautiful rhymic run up to deliver quick deliveries. Big hitter of the ball, and a throw like an Exocet missile! The complete package and a great servant of Essex.
Recently watching this, I recaptured the spirit thinking I was still in England. I am an ex-pat from the UK to the US, and I was overjoyed that I could block out the US and its influences from my mind at the time of my viewing.
when they game was a fair competition between bowler and batsmen, when the bats were the size of tooth picks and a four was a four and a six was six!!!!
A 61 run last wicket partnership led to a great win for the West Indies. I do believe that Majid Khan our acting captain made a big mistake in not giving late Wasim Raja a go with his top spinners. That could have sealed the game for Pakistan. The West Indies deserved to win the World Cup.
Not sure if you have seen this video of Dennis.Apologies if you have, but it's worth watching again...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZUi6bQC46nE.html&ab_channel=rugbydad678
Rohan Kanhai was my favourite cricketer for many years. The first two times that I saw him were when WI played test series against England and against Australia in T & T in the 60's. I still remember a 100+ that he made. I just thought that he was a superb batsman. He's a legend to me.
edmal jones me too he is second indies batmen to score 6000 test runs in test cricket sir garry was the first sir garry the best allrounder in test cricket not a great captain 39 test as captain won 9 lost 10 and 20 draw sir frank worell the best indies captain my dad told and did research his life cut short due to illness sonny ramadin pass on 2/2022 he sir frank was the god father of sonny son craig both live in england bud from nyc
@@jeangowcharan7456 I agree that Sir Garfield was the greatest all-round cricketer of all times. I also agree that he was not a good captain. Yes, Sir Frank was a great captain, and a true gentleman in and out of the game. He brought the WI to prominence. Clive Lloyd was the best WI captain, if you go by wins of test games and test series, and ODI's combined. For a short while, Mr. Kanhai was captain of WI, and he won. How much, I do not know. He too, was a gentleman of WI and world cricket. Still my favourite, even with legends like Viv Richards and Brian Lara and others who came along after.

AS I was watching this again, after a couple years, I recalled the Lord Kitchener calypso about this 1st World Cup...."They bring a judge and jury, to sentence LLoyd and Kalli, Ah water Lillee, they beat you like a bobolee."
What lovely game cricket was back then a good cricketer would emerge and last would become an icon through that game. But the new comers will come and fade quickly . To mention a few haynes grinage Richards lara were part of what was once a ledgend .the last of that great west Indian legend would be chris gayle no other has been fordge
Great upload - pity about the picture quality midway through. The days of batsmen walking and proper boundaries - most of the totals scored add 20 or 30 runs on today's grounds. Sarfraz- what a brilliant bowler - he shuffled in but very skilled. Three Hadlees playing for NZ! The great Kallicharran taking Lillee apart. Exhibition stuff by Clive Lloyd - that hook shot off Lillee into the stands - wow. Laker and Benaud commentating - the 2 best ever IMO
cerne uffpington what happen in 1983 they beat the mighty west indies living in ny /nj won money on the indian getting 5 to 1 he gavaskar ANDY ROBERTS sunil the one of the best openor he played against 1971 was sunil in the west indies look at his record against the west indies and how manny century he scored bud from nyc
I would like to take the time to thank Clive Lloyd for the many drinks, dinners and a beautiful Ireland girl when I lived in Mallorca, Spain. My name is John Pharms and I was a teacher in the 1980's at the American School where a lot of Brits informed me that I looked a lot like Clive Lloyd. Go to John Pharms images and Amazon Books to see how very close I did and still do look a lot like Clive Lloyd. I'm 67 years old now and my Cardiologist (whose from India) today looked up Clive Lloyd and told me that I do look a lot like Clive Lloyd. I should visit the West Indies and run for Mayor!! Just kidding. Anyone who lives in the West Indies or India please let me know what you think. I stand 6'3" and wear glasses just like Clive Lloyd.
Vanburn Holder was a brilliant fast bowler for the West Indies as was Bernard Jullian but for me in that early 70s West Indies side my favourite was Keith Boyce Keith was a marvellous all rounder for Essex and the West Indies
Fabulous pitch invasions. Watch at 2 05.15 where the invaders stop instinctively at the edge of the pitch and the policeman is more concerned with replacing the bails on the stumps than keeping them under control :-D These were better days than we live in now my friends...
neil rushton That’s brilliant! I’ve watched this many times and have never seen the PC replace the bails. Commentator never mentioned it either. Well spotted Neil.
the biggest racists he is the greatest captain sir frank worell my dad told soo he played local cricket for enmore and mahaica cricket club he lloyd was burnham god son another racist in ipl cricket no team hired lloyd as a coach because what he did in the fouth test against india 1976 bud from nyc
