Big respect for the Irish fans ,you are amazing guys. You seem to truly love your national team ,supporting wherever you play. Most important, support with no violence .Congratulations from Greece 🇬🇷 and good luck for the rest of the games
Terribly organised match though, massive queues to get in for the fans and in the end we all just stampeded through the security guards into the ground, not good enough
It is still a beginning and every beginning has some difficulties. It is a wonderful stadium, which AEK Athens built after 20 years on the same site where the old stadium in New Philadelphia was located. It is a new stadium built with the tradition and history of AEK. Beautiful.
i am greek and i love ireland landscapes irish music pubs and irish people.IRELAND is the most beautiful country in the world.I love to spend my time there☘
as an ethnic Greek living in America's finest city (San Diego OFC) NOTHING but LOVE to our IRISH brethren. May you dominate the frenchies and the dutchess......
@k m Gibraltar? Lmao you are funny man I give you that. It’s been over a decade since they won a game. To be honest Ireland could still pull it back, it is a long shot though. Second place isn’t far fetched it is early in the qualifications. Greece could pull a surprise performance or 2 out the bag and take second place, Netherlands are a great team as well though so who knows.
Stephen Kenny is not an international manager. Ireland have some talent in their squad but need someone with some management skills to drive them more aggressively.
well done Greece, better team and play nice football.. makes me sad to see my team so badly outplayed :( Hopefully we can get a win back in Dublin, to stand any chance.
We can’t get too gutted lads, yes it was a shite performance but we weren’t at the races last night, we can’t completely sideline the Greeks as they have some real quality in their team, let’s look to the next qualifier games and try make the most of them as possible even if we don’t qualify 🙏
Ireland and Greece have a really interesting history football wise. It can always seem to go either way with us as we have a lot of passion, there is always talent but not perfect by any means. The games are always great! I think you need a new manager. Someone from another European country with vision.
Firstly, what a great game. Shout out to all the Irish fans who brought an amazing energy to our stadium, we have a similar passion for football. To all my fellow Greeks, I think we are finally back. We have some serious talent in our squad. This might be our time to get back in to the spotlight. The magic is happening it seems. I would like to say as well, I see a lot of Ireland fans talking in the comments. You have a very young squad, there is talent in it! You might need a new manager here to shake things up, get a foreigner. Like Greece did in 2004, Otto was German. I think it will make a big difference because there comes a point where if results aren’t being made, you have to make the tough decision.
We played good and I hope we have a great team now, but tonights game against France will be the ultimate challange for us. It's going to be a really difficult game.
@@Fyrapan90 I understand, you are right. Here is the question, given the fact that France are going to come first no matter what, I would argue the most important matches are with The Netherlands (not that any win isn’t a priority). We have beaten Ireland; I believe we can again. Even a draw today against France would be a good result. At home we will have another opportunity on our own grounds. Our absolute biggest threat to qualifications is the Netherlands. Gibraltar are easy, we have to beat them with good goal difference (so far everyone has beaten them 3 - 0, Ireland are playing them today). I really feel confident in our team now. To be honest we didn’t get the most easy of groups.
@@thesleekgreek Yes I think it's reasonable to expect at least second place, but it would be amazing if we did the impossible and won against France today just like in 2004 :) Fingers crossed! I have a good faith in our team compared to other years but let's hope they are up to the task.
@@shane-irish Being a Panathinaikos ☘ fan always have a soft spot for you guys.Still to this day I remember watching on telly that Ray Haughton's goal against Italy in the WC'94 and that fantastic sea of green all over in ecstasy.
Red card for the fool that couldn't take the loss .If u do not play well enough to win or at least get a draw , then take your loss and play better next time .
@@danwebb4418Gaelic football and hurling are the most popular sports but we have the best rugby team in the world and even people who don't like rugby should be proud of that
Time for an experienced International manager to come in I think. Very poor performance. Team selection wrong We are out already.😭 Kenny Should have played a few warm up matches in Ireland Against league of Ireland teams instead of a training Camp in turkey.
unfortunately this match came before Gibraltar Game everytime there is a big gap between games, we don't seem to be prepared for the first one and then it's all up hill. So I agree with friendly before competitive Game but it's still up to the manager and coaching staff to have them prepared and they didn't. They basically gave Greece well too much respect and ferguson had no good balls landed to him only from the corner and still we can only score from a set piece.
Gibraltar haven’t won in over 10 years. I looked back for a win and got as far back as 2014 and gave up. Everyone in our group who has played them, France, Greece and the Netherlands have beaten them 3 - 0 I think. So that is the standard to meet. If you lose (you won’t) it would mean you are the first to lose to them in over a decade and would mean immediate changes need to be made.
Ireland defend well but the lack of creativity is a serious issue. The local league needs more support. You can't see players like liam Brady in the current team. Soccer rules nowadays promotes attacking football
Go ( Now ) Kenny, you promised attacking football, but we are getting the same old defensive play. What ye did in the French game when Ireland just sat back and stayed in yer own box and defended for most of the match was a disgrace. It was until France scored then Ireland started to attack and played some good football and almost scored . And again in the last match Ireland played defensively, passing the ball from side to side then back to the keeper. Ridiculous.
@@icemanire5467 that was at the start of the campaign. People are getting the wool pulled over their eyes. It's unacceptable especially when people have to buy tickets to go and watch constant losses. Let alone the fans travelling away with full support. I have no doubt the players and manager want to win but they need to to start boxing clever here if they want to make a tournament and stop giving teams ranked lower than Ireland too much respect. Look at Scotland they were rock bottom last year and now top of the group because they can score goals and believe they can win managing to score 2 goals late on let alone 1.
@@joseparcenary4706 you think they will sack him after the next game? Won’t they see if he can pull it back or will try and find a replacement and fix up for the rest of the qualifications?
@@glenm176 yeah, I agree. I'm a season ticket holder. I knew there was no quick fix for this team. To be fair a lot of it isn't Kenny's fault but the results have been unacceptable. People get riled up with spirited performances against the big teams like France and Portugal and then let down again with losing to poor teams and bottling comfortable leads. It's time to move on, but they haven't got the funds to pay him off. I reckon he'll finish the campaign.
@@halrd2651 This is really true. I heard they were trying to find him. It is also annoying for us Greeks. Unfortunately there is always an idiot with a laser at every match in Greece. Sorry...😣
Pleased that the 2nd Greek goal was a beaut but something should be done about the fake penalty gifted them for the first. At the best it was unclear if the ball came off his arm...it seemed clearly of his head ... cannot we just admit "Its not clear... play on. " Saying which, the Irish goal was good but again VAR was uncertain....trying to balance out the mistaken penalty?
Bro are you serious? Anyways try to find some better highlights, during the game they showed that it was handball from a different angle. Here your Football federation just dont want to show it.
