That was a lovely gesture to Sean Wainui and his family. The MAB's were great and it was an excellent lesson in what international rugby is all about for all the Irish young lads. Good entertainment too. Of course it will be a totally different Irish team on Saturday probably with the exception of Bundee. Really looking forward to a cracking contest between these two. It's great that is has become a true rivalry between them. I'll be watching in an Irish bar in İstanbul from 10am local time with the game starting at 11. It's been quite a few years since I had Guinness with my breakfast!! Lol. Enjoy the game everyone!
Its good to see and hear the 1888 New Zealand Natives, Captained by Joe Warbrick, finally being acknowledged and recognized. Maori rugby, as stated, has a 134 year history in this country and were the first team from New Zealand to tour outside of Australia and in parts of Great Britain playing 107 games all up, winning 78 of those clashes. As such, they also were the first to perform the Haka on a sporting field, and as we've seen, that tradition has stood the test of time inspiring other nations to either borrow or conjure up their own war dances, more specifically the Pacific Island teams. Some people act like the Maori team popped up only 10 years ago to create division within New Zealand when it was an idea first proposed and supported by New Zealanders of European heritage intially to exploit England's fascination with Natives. In 1868 An Aboriginal cricket team toured England with great success so they'd hoped for the same reaction. Guess they got it because The New Zealand Maori have beaten top tier nations for well over a century and have an equally impressive win/loss record to show for it. So the idea of this "Race based team" was a concept developed by Europeans now white kiwis of a certain vintage have a problem with something their forebears created. Congratulations to the New Zealand Maori team on a good win. Here's hoping the NZRU treat you alot better given your track record and storied connection to the game here in Aotearoa. From your friendly Viking Kiwi.
Yes but no matter how to try angle this thing including brow beating white people for commenting about something that they in fact are not allowed to do themselves it is a non-inclusive team. And in 2022, inclusion does not consider history of why people should be exclusive - unless you are from certain groups it appears. England rugby for example did not pop up 10 yrs ago either but they would never field an Anglo Saxon only team to celebrate 130 years of "culture". You're trying to romanticise exclusion.
That off pass before contact from Coombes on Aki’s try was brilliant. He’s such a strong ball carrier and he took two out of the game, he needs to be doing little tip on passes like that and mix it up if he’s going to get into this Irish team ahead of Doris and Conan.
Fantastic victory by the Māori boys. Well deserved victory. If we didn’t know before now what we’re going to be up against in the test games, well we do now.
That was a great performance Maori AB's!. First half they were brutal and clinical. Such beautiful micro skill moments, slick handling at the line. Much to like from the loosies they combined well. Grace just carried on his Crusader form, Billy Harmon wouldn't look out of place in the AB's. Cameron Suafoa never heard much of him but he was a beast when carrying. Walker-Leawere very underrated but he's a solid player great ball carrier, Ollie Norris is destined for AB's he's a young gun. The backs got the rewards from the forwards hard work and they played sharp, all in all great win Maori All Blacks.
Suafua was good for the Blues. One of the best people playing against the Tahs. Romano and the other forwards along with Suafua saved that game. Zarn stepped up from the back and into #10 well So much good young Maori talent!
And then they meet the bok forward pack and linespeed and they come up short.Cant wait for the two bok all black tests this year. The ultimate rivalry .
@@flafs69 What do you mean? The Maoris just did lol. All Blacks will be another step up, plus Ireland is playing in NZ which a totally different beast. I'm sure Ireland will bring the fire of course but in all honesty Ireland were given a good wake up call.
No shame in losing to the Maoris. They've beaten Lions sides who've had weeks of prep. Really disappointed with Irelands game management though. How many offsides around their 22 to let the pressure off or in the irish half in kickable positions? Also lads throwing ridiculous offloads when the ball is like a bar of soap. Game would have been close otherwise. Shoutout to the Maoris for their skill levels and they were insane at the breakdown. Timoney and Prendergast normally v good at stealing ball and couldn't get a sniff. Hopefully we can give you a better game next week if we have enough players to put a side together! 😅
To be fair, while Wayne Barnes isn't biased, he allows no contest at the breakdown. There were so many poaches from Timony and Prendergast that would have been called by any other ref but Barnes blew the whistle against them or told them to let it go.
massive from the Maori All Blacks...Cullen grace and brad webber for me has proven the All Blacks selectors that they should have been in that squad....Good hit up lads,
Neither was I but then 5 uncapped players on an an experimental team up against some well versed talent on the Maori AB's was always going be be tricky. Maori's were good and Ireland are a bit too crap to beat them. At least Farrell is trying out stuff now and seeing what works and what doesn't, rather than waiting until the first game of a WC lol
@@Homophobicpride ,but most of them in the SA team are white already so don't think it would make much difference besides aren't the best players in SA coloured?,Am,Kolbe etc etc
Strong performance all round. The MAB pack stood up in the tight, to support the speedsters. That's always a massive component when playing an Irish team. The ABs really need a next generation of tight five players or it's going to be a lean decade. Big test on Saturday, against a much stronger Irish team. Really disappointed Will Jordan won't be there finding space. Respect again to Bundee who has been one of Aotearoa's finest rugby exports.
From a Munster fan. Well done The Maori. Wonderful heads and hands up rugby. My lot? Better wake-up and quick. Was pleased for our St Bundee to get a try.
The only way we will get players more experience and depth is by these games. To write frawley off as an international forever based on his first game is a stupid opinion
2 года назад
I personally through Frawley was fairly strong too, bar a few poor kicks.
If the Maoris could select their very best players in league or union I think they would beat the ABs and Kiwis if you took the Maoris out of the ABs they would be a lot weaker and the Kiwis are mostly all Maoris with a sprinkling of islanders
Congrats to the Maori AB's they were by far the better team and deserved the win. A few future AB's there I think. Zarn Sullivan was very impressive. They'd easily be in the top tier of international teams if they were their own nation so to speak. Disappointed as an Ireland fan, we were a bit brainless at times, particularly around the rucks and I think theres a few guys that are a lot further away from test level than we thought. All in all though the young fringe guys will learn more from that against quality opposition than smashing Canada, the USA or teams of that ilk. Roll on Saturday for the big one, really looking forward to it.
Get Grace in the ABs. Māori scrum dominant, lineout solid, but surprisingly they also stopped the Irish maul dead in its tracks. Without those platforms, Ireland midweek team didn’t really have the attacking threats to get the result. The Māori defence will have to improve, as there were some huge holes to run through, but Ireland unable to control the ball well enough in the conditions to exploit them and Māori scrambling was good. Second game will be much more interesting and the Irish will have a better understanding of some of the lesser known Māori players and how to shut them down.
LOVED THAT!! GOOOO MAORIS!!!! Surprised at how emphatic that was!!! Ireland will be thinking (was this this their first team?) if the All Blacks have similar intentions...or look different to this Maori team. Sullivan, Josh Iaone, Stephenson, Grace, Weber...all the team, played well. Proud Jamaican supporting AB fan here. The heartland did you and forefathers proud.
Respwct Bredren ..I've been trying to get a jamaican rugby team shirt for ages...they seem to have Rugby league shirts but not Union...chuh! Great game, I think the Irish are going to have a hard time this tour but we'll see just where they are at from next year's world cup.
@@soundscapemusic8980 Just as much as none of these players made the all blacks 36 man squad. Add this team to it and there's an equal 50ish players both nations have brought to the table. Just say Ireland's depth isn't as good
Ireland had 511 caps between them the Maori had only 116 with TJ Perenara having 80 of them there were also 10 debutants for the Maori so experience was around the same for both teams that there isn't the Maoris best team either
Black & White Toa From Aotearoa. It's been a great year for The Maori Rugby & Rugby League team. TU MAORI!!! Welcome to New Zealand Ireland. Come on All Blacks, just follow the Kiwi League teams phenomenal performance when you play against Ireland.
Even the kiwi league team are mostly Maori with a sprinkling of Islanders in the mix I really believe if the Maoris could select their best players in league and union they would beat the ABs and Kiwis.
The MABs speed and work around the breakdown need to be commended here. This is a coaching masterclass and a clinic in execution. Just watch how quickly they get to every breakdown in how effective they are cleaning out. I’m gobsmacked at the quality. A well deserved win!
Hopefully Ireland take this as a wake up call before Saturdays test which of course is going to be completely different. Can't believe the quality of some of those MABs, NZ just churning out quality youngsters
Bit ignorance when it comes to the skin colour of a lot of the Maori players. Hopefully some of you Irish fans stop judging considering your history with being discriminated against. Might help you guys win a wold cup 🤔

Don’t be silly bro the MAB’s are great but come on now they aren’t in the AB’s because we have better options at the moment hope Josh Ioane gets another call up though
Strong Maori team, effectively a 3rd 15. Some of these players are arguably as good as their counterparts in the AB squad and most could slip into the All Blacks without significantly weakening the team. But this team would probably lose by 40 to the Irish top team
@@Trajan2401 The fact that it's better watching it at home is a big reason. I had free tickets to Wellington Stadium for 3 years and still only went to a couple of games. Food and drink is too expensive and the hassle of getting in and out just annoys me. I'd rather sit in my living room and watch it, you get a much better view and understanding of things on TV
as an Ireland fan I'm happy enough with that. MAB's have some very experienced guys and some very talented, quick young guys. Our inexperienced lads got a good run out and did themselves proud imo.
The Maori All Blacks have some amazing players. They're not all that experienced at international level at all, but as far as skills go, they're only a step away from All Black level. Some would be picked up as injury cover now.
@@bremCZ basically a b/reserve team now? Also I've always though s Stevenson is the best out and out 14 in the country. him at 14 and let Jordan play fb.
4:37 this play here from Suafoa gives me hope that the NZ system is shifting more toward a tactical playstyle. Targeting the Irish's rush in defence and exploiting it is a mindset that the All Blacks have been slow to catch up to the rest of the world on
Obviously I know that this isn't first team Ireland, but there were some horrible mistakes in this game that you can't afford to make in international rugby. The number of knock ons was mad and the defence was all over the place. As an Irish fan, I expected more from this experimental team
We welcome the northerns to some real rugby, not those talkers from up north, that is why we have 8 world cups to 1 ,you guys are like rookies to us southerner's, welcome to the real league,I wonder what the excuses going to be 😂😂😂😂😂
Every player no matter their ethnicity are free to play for their native country…but you must also remember rugby is also a business and in business something’s need to be sacrificed unfortunately to make tomorrow a better day for you and your whanau and if that means forsaking your native country then so be it
i do not think they can now, they will have to take a long stand down period of not getting chosen, the Maori All Blacks are NZs second team, every country has two 15s sides and the 7s that count as tests which locks them in for being eligible for other countries. Which is a shame though.
Well done to the Maoris! I more or less expected this. The Irish are overrated. Somehow they thought they were something special after beating the All Blacks last year, yet they could not win 6 Nations, La Rochelle pumped the (Irish-in-disguise) Leinster, then a young Bulls team with not a single Springbok in their run-on side also beat Leinster in Dublin, and finally the Stormers knocked out Munster in the semis of the URC. Good, of course, but certainly not something special. Cheers from Safferland chaps! 😉
Ireland only came second because probably the best team in the world right now came first and Ireland have beaten New Zealand 3 of the last 5 times this gsme tells us nothing about what the rest of the tour will be like our main 15 is easily a top 4 team
Hate to lose but Māori were too good - Coombes and frawley looked very good to me .Front row were better than many expected and the handling was ok .All in all a good outing with no major injuries to anyone so a great warm up .
Common NZ history is false and misdirected. Maori were not the first people in NZ. Also the famous "Waka" that brought them here, is made of native timber🤣😅😂😂
Do you realise that they were playing the Māori All Blacks (indigenous team), and not the All Blacks (national team)? That Irish "B" team played a team with classy players, but most of them not good enough to ever be called into the All Blacks.
Well done to the Maori. Fully deserved win. We were slow out of the blocks and some very sloppy play. Great to be finally alive and kicking in this tour, hopefully performances will improve on this.
Congratulations to the young bloods of the Mab's demonstrating skills at the utmost level more international games please to enhance more experience for the boys thankyou Ireland Godbless 🙏
I was dissappointed waking up at 8 for this match just to have our team make too many sloppy mistakes, there was some good moments but nowhere near enough to beat a team like that, excited to see what our first team can do on saturday however, should make for a great match either way
Hahaha, I was just sitting here grinning when I read Irish news etc saying they are going to come beat the All Blacks😂😂😂😂 you don't just go to NZ and beat the All Blacks. Even the springboks have to go and give 120% and then maybe win half the games by 1 point. Good luck kiwis, go smash those loud mouth northerners
@@gordondarker2734 more like FB stuff. Can't remember where I saw it mate but it might have been some little page trolling you know. Sponsored links or something as they are all over everyone's damn Facebook these days.
That is most definitely not the view here in Ireland. We are expecting a very tough series in NZ and nobody is expecting Ireland to win it. A success for Ireland will be to get one win against the ABs, and/or to keep the games tight when we do lose. We have every right to be hopeful we can get a win given our recent success against the ABs, otherwise what's the point.

I find the term 'Maori All Blacks' a bit racist - the team are distinguishing themselves from the AB with a racial tone. This from a hyper sensitive Saffa. We would not dare to distinguish like this.
well you lot have a sad racist past so im not surprised an Afrikaan being hyper-sensitive and seeing racism everywhere would not see the Indigenous people of another country come into prominence on their own without it being racism to you - we dont care that you think the name "Maori All Blacks" in your racist eyes is a bit racist - what a joke you are - we know how bad racism is in your country
Its a cultural and heritage team, do you also have a Problem with New Zealand Maori League team and the Indigenous Australian team? Why? How is is racist? Its recognition to the Nations that Existed within Aotearoa New Zealand and in Australia and a celebration of them. It is not an attack on anyone else.
I hate Ioane's kicking routine, he doesn't put himself in position to get distance on the ball. Seems to be more about the routine aesthetics than it is about the actual kick
Welcome Ireland. Boy you're gon get it. If I end up being wrong, good because it means you're truly truly a brilliant force to be reckoned with and I prefer the Irish over the braggart Poms any day of the week. However just prepare to get clapped.
