I hope this continues in future as just another feather in the cap of both Moana Pasific and the New Zealand Maori rugby teams. The opportunity to showcase the talent of both rugby teams today is but a reflection of the proud contribution countless Pasifica and other Indigenous rugby teams have in the past and continue today, to world Rugby. For a nobody to call Moana Pasific a therd rate team and NZaoris a sheet team,not only disrespect the efforts of both today. Rather than a feather in the cap, this nobody just highlighted the huge chip he has on his shoulder.
I've always said. New Zealand should be allowed to field 2 international teams. The amount of new Zealand talent that miss out, and would get into any other rugby team in the world, is just downright unfair

Awesome occasion. I hope this is the beginning to a long history of play for the Moana 15. A successful 1st hit out I think. All about experimentation and learning lessons towards building a successful culture and exposing raw talent to the occasion. More games for both these teams PLEASE!!!!!!
The Maori are the most oppressed people in the pacific if all our people woke up and got out of the dumps then you will see the size and power of the true Maori athlete.

BB, as great and talented as he is, is not a real 15, Jordie makes too many mistakes to be the AB full-back and MacEnzie is too prone to rushes of blood to the head and too inconsistent at international level ... in my humble opinion.

Been to a lot Maori youth rugby tournaments growing up especially the tini a Maui in Taupo and some of the Maori try’s or disallowed ones remind me of old Jim Love (A Maori all black great) would tell us “no fucking kicking, I don’t give a fuck if your inside your 22 lol we run everything” meke to see Maori rugby being played again.

Hopefully if we ever see these players in international colors it will only be for nations from the south pacific region like new zealand/fiji/samoa/tonga . Though I know some have already played internationals, 7s and other things, be good to develop more depth for the region. No more Bundee Aki's please. Or one or few tests then go up north and stay there to never play for the all blacks again.
Why should aus n nz only get to pick n choose from the p.is....what ever is best for their families is best....what we need is eligability rules changed so that when countries like NZ aus England France n Ireland are done using these players they can go home n give bk to their roots
@@krakerjack1883 you don't realise that a lot of the pacific islanders in the all blacks actually live and were born and raised in New Zealand. That's why they have eligibility. There are about 4 foreign born people (they happen to be of p.i descent) in the whole NZ all blacks squad of 39 people who were born outside of New Zealand. Akira Ioane is one of the four. Akira was born in Japan but is of samoan (father) and maori descent through his mother. Nepo laulala was born in samoa. Don't know much about him. Shanon frizell was born and raised in Tonga. Sevu reece was born and raised in fiji.

You are right. If the maori all blacks or even some of the moana pasifika can get into the all blacks or their nations team they'll go for it. In New Zealand the all blacks is what they aim for. So yeah if they didn't make the all blacks and have maori blood then they can play for maori all blacks. But maori all blacks don't have that many games sometimes no games in a year

The Saxons are the English 2nd team, whereas the Maori are not. The equivalent of the Saxons here are the Junior All Blacks, who havent been assembled in around a decade. The Maori All Blacks are essentially the very best players of Maori descent available during the time of selection, minus All Blacks who are already on duty. The Maori All Blacks seem to be the more prestigious team between themselves and the Juniors, or that may just be my own perception.
