HIGHLIGHTS: New England Revolution vs. Houston Dynamo FC | March 4, 2023 

Two matches down, and two clean sheets!!! Now that is a massive step for us. 3 goals, six points, and joint top of the table is also quite the accomplishment. Once again the back four shines defensively. The boys have been so good that the best keeper in MLS hasn’t even needed to make a tough save. And that’s through 180 minutes of football. The first half overall I would consider quite poor. We struggled to create much of anything in attack, at least in a timely manner. The width was practically non existent with Buck and Latif staying extremely close to Polster. And Dejuan/BB not getting forward very much. The second half was much improved. Especially that first 20-ish minutes. The midfield trio was extremely aggressive winning the ball back and finding the right spots in attack. Which then lead to the beautiful second goal. Bobby Bagsman gets off the mark!!!! Capi with a perfect ball through and DJ with a lovely cross. Doesn’t get much better than that!! And DB putting Griffin Dorsey on toast for the third😮‍💨. Getting him on that yellow early, I wish Borrero went at him a bit more but that dribble was truly something special. Goal and assist for both Borrero and Wood!! Gonna be a tough fight for those 9 spots. Wouldn’t be a home opener without an Ema appearance. Won some fouls and causing constant trouble! Keep the momentum going!! Late one in LA and Latif is looking forward to it. Hopefully some more of the guys get back from injury and we can remain top!! GO REVS!!!!!!

It is a shame that the Revolution still plays in this stadium..

Two games. Two clean sheets. Not a bad way to start the season. I like the pairing of Kessler and Romney tbh and I was not sold on Romney when they signed him. I am glad that, so far, I have been pleasantly surprised. Bye had a good game going forward, which he did not last week. But his defensive game was a bit off leaving players with WAY to much space and time to pick out any cross they could possibly want, which he didn't really do last week. Brandon really needs to get both sides of his game going at the same time which is why we needed to sign a serious RB the last two years now. Not to replace him, but to PUSH him. DeJuan had some loose passes but overall was solid. I was even less sold on Bobby Wood but if he can push Vironi, and play as well as he did today when called in, then he will be a solid depth piece. Borrero and Gil are just a class above the rest of the league.

The revs have a talented bunch this season. Houston dynamo need to sort out their defensive backs. They gave up too many shots in their own box, allowing their opponents to get too many touches inside the 18 as well. They need to close out quicker.

New England have an embarrassing stadium situation. Almost nonexistent atmosphere at an NFL stadium. I wouldn't be surprised if they build a soccer-specific stadium they'll get better fan engagement not to mention better attendance.
