Highlights: Portsmouth 2-2 Wycombe Wanderers 

The irony of the ref is that there was a penalty incident earlier for Wycombe that looked like a pen even from the Fratton End that wasn't given...Then he goes and gives this, which is one of the softest penalties I've ever seen...All in all I think a point was a fair result in conditions and with that ref we were never going to win. We must be the first team in history to have supposedly more fouls than Wycombe in a game by some distance too...27 fouls for us and only something like 12 given for them...They had 4 yellows in the 2nd half alone 😂 Conditions set up perfectly for how Wycombe play, Can't help but feel we lacked a bit of Ben Thompson in midfield though just to try give us a bit of extra bite...ah well we are still undefeated and while Wycombe fans got mouthy at the end because they won a point, We won't be the ones fighting to stay in the league as the season draws to a close 😂😂😂

Burgess played well except that one mistake. And let's be fair to him, it was a pretty soft penalty, half the time that would not have been given. I dunno what's been up with Burgess lately though, I'll admit. He went from one of our most dependable players to a guy who makes at least one clanger per game. Several that have led to goals. At some point last season it was like he overnight became a different player. I don't know if it was personal life problems or his self-confidence took a battering, but he hasn't been the rock he was for us. But he's not really to blame for yesterday. The whole defence stood off Wycombe for their first goal, gave them the room to do whatever they wanted. We played poorly until they scored. None of our best attacking players this season - Curtis, Lowe and Hawkins - played particularly well all game. Curtis especially might as well have not been on the pitch. Suppose he had to have a bad game eventually. Hawkins was similarily non-existant most of the game. And I have no idea what game the referee and the North Stand side linesman were watching. I can only guess that they had money on a score draw. Some of their decisions (and not just against Pompey but also against Wycombe too) were complete nonsense.

Burgess was a bit of a prat here, but if you look in the buildup we go for a clearing header and get shoved in the back and don't flop to the ground, and play continues. People want to know why players dive.. incompetent refereeing is the reason.

I went to that game and the Wycombe players were filth. But, they had their 12th man backing them up every way which as always grates our guys and they retaliate. We definitely deserved the win in my opinion. Wycombe are a very poor playing team and rely upon big boy bully style players to get points, not by playing the beautiful game. Pup!
