The Chequered Flag Lancia Stratos! I sat in that car in the 1970's when I was just a little kid! My father was picking up a new Beta Coupe from The Chequered Flag Lancia dealership (in London?) and that Stratos was in their garage area. :0)
I've watched lots of historic rallies where Minis have had trouble making the corner. Usually in mud and snow. I would have thought they would be the fastest cars around sharp corners.
Dans le col de l'Écharasson à côté de Saint Jean en Royans, ils passaient dans les deux sens le même jour. Cette spéciale est habituellement prise par le rallye de la Drôme Paul Friedman
Ah, those were the days - remember when there were British owned volume car manufacturers? And some of the foreigners still flog cars as "British". Tata, for example, flog Jaguars and Landrovers as British products, VW flog Bentleys as British, PSA advertise Vauxhalls as "British brand since 1903" and BMW put union flag tail lights on their Minis. Gives little Englanders a warm nostalgic feeling inside.
