recently World Rugby introduced a suite of trial laws for U20 World Championships, the Pacific Nations Cup, and WXV, one of which is if line-outs are uncontested, then throws cannot be called as ‘not straight’. Additional trial laws are: once a maul's forward progress is stopped the first time, the ball must be used (see min 4:34); no scrums on free-kicks with teams required to kick or tap them to speed up the game; a 20-minute red card after which a player can be replaced; 'crocodile rolls' are now outlawed; 30 seconds to set scrums and line-outs; the 'Dupont Law' for kicks in open play where it will no longer be possible for a player to be put onside when an opponent catches the ball and either runs five metres or passes the ball- offside players must now visibly retreat (the ref missed that new law at min 7:29); the shot clock for a conversion will be reduced from 90 seconds to 60; and added protection for scrum-halves at the bases of scrums, rucks and mauls, with the offside line for defending scrum-halves moved back to the middle of the scrum (note Iritana Hohaia 21 retreating as defending scrum half at min 12:20).
