Watch highlights as Scotland are defeated 3-1 by Portugal in an International Friendly at Hampden Park. Steven Naismith's goal proved to be just a consolation for Scotland, as strikes from Costa, Eder and Bruma gave Portugal the win.
We actually have better players, well slightly better anyway but the management and attitude is just not good enough. There are no excuses we should be doing better than this.
Its not the SFA. Follow what happens to our Scottish talented: Track them...1. Always diminished 'Squad Players' refound, or underplayed (due to high mgmt turnovers at club level). 2. Old Firm International stranglehold on Hampden Seating, even for Internationals. 3. Scottish talent pool for 20yrs, has spent too much time as reserve or squad players.
@@VALDIGNE and? mate Look at Portugal? Im Portugueses and we arent a Huge Populations yesw Mate you are Pretty Small yes But your Problems guys ist the inexistent investment in Clubs Formation the scotish clubs have a lot of talents
Un dato curioso, los 3 jugadores de Portugal que metieron gol, no nacieron en Portugal, Bruma y Éder nacieron en Guinea-Bissau y hélder Costa nació en Angola.
Great goal by Scotland. Sadly we were crying out for a lot more of that directness in the whole game. International friendlies are usually pointless, but the Scotland manager and squad needed to do something at Hampden v Portugal tonight, it wasn't terrible, but still not enough. Players like Stephen O'Donnell, Jack Hendry and Kevin McDonald are not of the quality needed at this level. And I would like to see the like a of David Gray and Paul Hanlon of Hibs given run outs some time in defence, surely? Also, Graeme Shinnie done well and has been crying for a chance for a long time, he should be in and around the squad and first team all day long - he can play a number of positions and has the energy, tenacity and leadership qualities needed in a Scotland international! ⚽️👍❤
ODonnell's the best we have in that position right now and has done little wrong in his games so far. Gray? Seriously? Hendry's young and learning, not a first choice, for sure. Hanlon's ok for the Scottish Prem, but ask yourself how many international level centerbacks there are who are 5'9"? The answer's none. He's get absolutely bossed every game at that level. McDonald has done ok, so a bit unfair on him, but like you, I'd be putting Shinnie in ahead of him atm, or along side depending on the opposition. Honestly, the players are not the problem. We're in a bit of a transition defensively, having to blood a lot of young guys who maybe aren't quite ready, but they just don't look very organised, which is down to the manager. Look at Andy Robertson, great player, he'll go back to Liverpool and be solid. Comes to us and looks all over the place. Difference is what the coach is asking.
Dosnt say much if odonnell the best we have caught on his heels at the first goal after Hendry bad header end goal Hendry and mcginn were in position for the man on the ball he should have went wide to cover the run and block the cross ,3rd goal zona marking he was left with 3men the rest were all in a line marking nobody z onal marking rubbish
For the 1st, I'm not sure he's wrong to be covering behind Hendry. Hendry's squared up to Bruma and Burma has the ability to beat a man in that position as he demonstrated later. If O'Donnell wasn't there he would have taken on Hendry and probably beaten him. The goal is ultimately down to Robertson not being goal-side of Costa and giving him a tap in. 2nd goal, yeah, O'Donnell's the only one challenging the Portuguese players who are lining up to score. That's down to McLeish wanting them to defend that way tho. 3rd is really just that Hendry went on a suicidal run and gave the ball away. It's a decent counter, my main disappointment is McDonald who was close enough to get back (tho it probably wouldn't have mattered) but didn't try having been on the pitch less than 10 minutes and then has a go after the goal goes in. I want more commitment to get back, even tho it's a ridiculous friendly.
At least we attacked a bit more liked the way mcginn and Armstrong worked together along with Robertson and McGregor ,Forrest started good seemed to end up playing just off mcburnie not his strongest position was that McLeish telling him to do that?
Ex Serbia boss Muslin and Denmark boss Hertije who took them to world cup are free to Di Biasi guy took Albania to Euroes Kananec took Slovenia there Kolac took Slavackia there Fermeno took Ukraine there all out a gig All better qualfied than Eck who looks tierd and ill
I know that this was Portugal’s reserves however we were also missing Cairney, snodgrass, MacArthur, McTominay, tierney, Mulgrew and Fraser who would all have made a massive difference
Keep supporting Scotland Give MacLeish time He has tonnes of silverware and experience Also Scotland beat England the last time we played them at rugby and cricket and we drew with England at football So look o the positive side
Not really, but rather a testament on how awful a team of professional players can be. Only Scotland could be that poor. Far from giving 100% that's for sure. Would Andy Halliday and an alternative SPL select have done any worse? Or the under 21's perhaps? Some of these players think they have already made it when they have won nothing yet.
I feel I said to my homie aboot the manager but I'm not one that can even doubt a manager...what would I say creative inventive supernatural all things that Alex mckleish knows well
We just need a draw against you to finish in the first place But even with all your peoblems i belive it will be hard , every national team from the British island is much better than Israel.. Celtic in home games is completly diffrent than Celtic in away games , i think that Scotland its the same story...
Good result for Scotland considering that they're the reigning European champions. Kept it within 2 goals considering that Ronaldo wasn't playing. Imagine if was, would've been 7 or 8. Big Eck doing a great job.
@@luismiguel8678 Do not underestimate those players look they all plat in a top level and can easily be a barcelona or real madrid, look at b. fernandes an n. semedo.
Sack McLeish(only got job to help his HMRC case) and have a clear out at the SFA. Get real progressive professional people in(from abroad possibly) and not ones who get the job from some funny handshakes.
