Shots on target vs opportunity = scores vs. misses. But the header wouldn't be successful if Seattle defenders learned how to jump and contest the chance, but they don't.

The coach always talks about changing things up, then never does. His formation doesn't currently play well to the personnel on the field, but he won't change. He has a wealth of midfielders that sit on the bench and he has stated he doesn't believe in substitutions until the last 20 minutes of the game: if you used the younger talent to beat up the opposition and made changes at halftime, the old guys would be more effective... But again, I don't expect anything to change. I would be OK with a 4-4-2 so that we have one quick striker and one physical, but I'd also be OK with a 3-5-2 to use the depth at MF and control the middle of the field, but they won't.

​@@ws8080: I agree on having 2 strikers up front. Having Ruidiaz be the lone striker when it's clear he doesn't have it anymore, doesn't work. I think Morris and Chu up front would work better. Lodeiro and Ruidiaz are better off as subs and I would hope both of them (and Rusnak as well) will no longer require a DP spot at the end of the season. Schmetzer is absolutely horrible with subs. I really hope he does the honorable thing and just announce he's resigning at the end of the season instead of waiting until he gets sacked. As horrible as it's been the last season and a half in MLS play, he took us to the top of MLS, twice, and became the first to win CCL under the current format. Schmetzer deserves to go out on his own terms, not on other's terms. Clearly nothing changed in the 3 weeks they had off between Leagues Cup and heading back into MLS play. The sad thing is that this was practically the same 11 they used against Monterrey and for the first 10 minutes looked brilliant against a top Mexican side, and then we've been outscored 6-0 in the last 170 minutes ever since. Nothing's changed in the last 1 1/2 years in MLS play for the Sounders and I don't expect anything to change the rest of the season. And with the Western Conference being garbage this year, we may still somehow reach the playoffs and make a quick exit, because I can't imagine any current playoff team on a worst stretch the last 2-3 months as Seattle has.

I agree but he misplayed the header goal, Nouhou applied no pressure and its mostly his fault but Frei sold out to his right before Almada even touched the ball, a small mistake but it could have been saved if he stayed neutral until contact.
