Highlights of South Oak Cliff's (Dallas) 33-28 win over Aledo (TX) in the third round of the UIL Texas 5A Division 2 playoffs. Aledo was the three-time defending 5A D2 state champs.
I grew up less than 10 minutes from SOC and a lot of my family graduated from there including my dad. I graduated with SOCs head coach Todd. I'm so proud of these boys from breaking through and finding success against all odds. Inner City schools usually get the raw end of the stick in Dallas because if you're from Dallas you know the widely known secret that those outskirt towns and large suburbs recruit and a lot of money spends under the table. Congrats to Coach Todd and the SOC Golden Bears!!! This is fa' sho' Oak Cliff Bidness!!!
They do not recruit. People move to schools like Aledo to get out of shit holes like DISD and FWISD. You REALLY think Aledo has to recruit to be good? They do not. And btw I was a HS coach for thirty years in Texas. Recruiting is by and large BS from cry babies who get their ass kicked. Oh and hat's off to SOC. They got a great team.
@@DalonCole call DISD or FWISD whatever makes you feel good but I personally know guys who's mothers where given apartments and jobs to move to areas so their sons could play for teams in these outer cities and suburbs; I graduated high school in '95 and it was happening then.
@@williamphillips3035 Name three. And who exactly is doing all this hiring and providing apartments? You think schools are LOL? Every penny a school spends is public record. I assure you that if schools were actually doing this we would know about it. If this was going on people would be going to jail. I Coached in Texas HS Football for thirty years and I NEVER once heard of this happening from people who actually knew the facts. Of course people outside who think they know everything are quite sure what they heard from someone else is gospel. When I and other coaches in a school who lost a kid to another school and our parents would whine about the other school recruiting once we were in the offices alone we would laugh our ass off at these people who had absolutely no clue how the process works. For starters the kids former COach has to sign off on a form that the kid was not leaving because of ANY illegal reason. AND ALL the schools in the new district HAVE to approve the transfer BEFORE the kid is eligible. You think the other schools in Aledo's district are just gonna sign off on this stuff so they can get their ass kicked? The other schools have ALL the power in this situation.
@@DalonCole on one side you say you've never heard of high school recruiting then you say why are these schools complaining about losing a players. This campaign you're on in this comment section is a bit neurotic but I'll engage for a minute. 2 loopholes can debunk your argument with one being change of employment thus leading to change of address and violence in area of current residency thus change of address which are in most cases always instantly approved when athletes are permitted to change districts. Now in some cases these children are leaving schools that are not as well funded as the places they're going and the difference is the outside resources that are use to help fund the necessary activities used to entice these kids to come to these areas. Parents and local businesses tend to cover those needed extra expenses so the school won't be on the hook if any investigation is to take place. Now, understand I don't care if you believe any of what I say but again, I grew up with a guy who mother was given a job in a new area so she could move and her son could play football. He then was given his own Chevy pickup to drive around that I seen with my own eyes. He moved during his freshman year so he didn't suit up for varsity yet so he didn't need permission from his varsity coach to transfer but they had been watching him since Pop Warner. Now, this was in the 90s so you can believe whatever you want but it was wide spread back then. In the DISD the talent is spread then because the high schools are closer together and it's so many of them that graduation itself can decimate the talent pool. So if your objective is to win the comment section, you WIN and I lost and Aledo and schools like Aledo don't recruit ever.
Actually they do recruit. They moved a 5 star Samoan o lineman from California and relocated his family to Aledo. Just so he could play football there...I know of 5 other cases but they are still playing there soooo ill keep my mouth shut on them...
Congratulations is Dallas Carter from that area? I remember hearing story about 1988 team. That was not fair how they did them. But good to see a team from that area get it. Shout out all the way from Alabama.
Hats off to Aledo and their great program...they came to play...but when you have an opponent who is hungry and believe in themselves, cut down on mistakes and never let go, you can beat a giant such as Aledo...congratulations South Oak Cliff.

We lost because of a fumble. I was really hoping to go to the football state championship my freshman year after such a great marching season for the band. GG South Oak
@@focalpoint7841 Thank you for pointing out the fact that we lost, which I was well aware of. Perhaps you didn’t understand but I was saying if we hadn’t fumbled the ball there would’ve been a pretty good chance we would’ve won the game.
Hey idc what people say about aledo y’all can talk and talk as much as you want but how about you come to our school and see how hard we work day after day to become better and if you can come watch the work every single player puts in and you still think we are steroid users. You got something messed up in your head. Our coach’s push us more and more the grind we put in is different then some of these other teams. Just wanna say that. Good luck South Oak go win!

Aledo needed to be out because they recruit players out of the district and it is illegal but they needed to get knocked out because give somebody else a chance to win the state championship title and not running in everybody’s faces
there’s a reason aledo is as good as we are. SOC played great but we get up rain shine or snow we are up every single morning grinding to get better and better there has been a long legacy that my brothers have made for us and we weren’t able to live up to our expectations. SOC go win boys y’all played hard
HP recruits? LOL that is the stupidest thing I have ever seen on the internet dude. IF HP recruited where exactly would the recruit and their families live? You think HP Football is providing a 2 million dollar mansion for them to live in? Because those are the only places to live in HP.
I guess holding players back in middle school for "Academic purposes"😒, recruiting/housing and players being on steroids and high before high school so its out their system by the time they get to high school aint going to get you a championship forever. SOC told them grown ass men over there to sit down.
Yes the ten time State Champion program just got exposed for the Frauds that they are. One of the top five all time Texas HS programs is a fraud. The only mystery is how they fooled everyone to lose to them for forty years.
@@DalonCole They got those so-called championships off the backs of cupcakes and you and everyone else knows it, Aledo has never beaten anyone good and they refuse to play anyone outside of Texas. And their players get exposed at the next level I don't care how many records they break.

Hat's off to SOC. I hope they win it all. And to all you that cannot celebrate a great win without whining about "recruiting" you do not have a clue. I coached 30 years in Texas HS football. Ill bet none of you experts has a clue all of the hoops a family has to jump through when they move schools to become eligible to play football. You do not get to JUST MOVE and start playing. Celebrate the great win and quit whining about what you know nothing about. All of you clowns crying about "recruiting" more than likely do not know of one first hand example of a school like Aledo recruiting. In every instance I have ever heard someone heard it from their neighbors barbers third cousin that School X recruited. Parents move talented kids to places like Aledo and out of crap hole schools like DISD and FWISD because Aledo schools are good and they win in every sport.,
