A bit extreme no? At u17 level players are too young to make such bold predictions, there are factors that at this age are determining but later on disappear. Main one is physical maturity,: a player born in January is in the same age group às one born in December but is basically a year older, which at 16 means a big difference in physical development, although he might be a lot worse footballer. Another factor important now but later irrelevant is using a team as the core for the NT (Chile is basically Colo Colo, Croatia is Dínamo Zagreb....) which helps get immediate results but in the future will mean almost nothing. At this level main thing is identifying talent and margin for development, not winning titles.

+MS9ification both things are important, if you team has talent and attitude they win titles, you are right, they are really young guys, therefore is important for them to build character. I don't believe that these youngsters don't play to win, the coach won't say to them that this tournament is only to see if they have talent, they play to win. To be successful in this game you need talent, but above all, great attitude.

***** that's true, obviously a competitive attitude is necessary to succeed. However many people (usually fans) demand way to much from these kids, and jump to bold conclusions about their future due to 3-4 games, that is clearly exaggerated. Football history is filled with wonder kids who fail to succeed at a senior level, and the opposite is also true (Moutinho was always a sub in Portuguese youth teams for Sergio Organista, now Organista plays in the 3rd division and Moutinho is a world class player). In my eyes the most important thing in youth football is the continuous development of players so they are individually well prepared to succeed in senior football, that's what really matters. Winning u17 tournaments is nice but means very little, otherwise Nigeria and Mexico would dominate at senior level and that is clearly not what happens

Wow nice catch to see the laser on the keepers eyes, he reacted a little slow to the strike because of it. thats really dirty tactics from the crowd disappointing tbh
