2:22 No signature "AHH?" How disappointing. Steve's "Eat your veggies" must be working; you practically enjoyed those bites of salad. Overall, I'd say that Loco Moco looked pretty decent. Makes me want to run downstairs to the kitchen and make it.
It looked like a hipsters take on Hawaiian food and the egg looked overcooked and rubbery. The purpose of having a runny egg yolk for loco moco is to mix it with the hamburger patty, eggs and gravy.
WTF 7 AM ? You are turning into a Ninth Island resident. That’s twice I have seen you get a LOCO MOCO. Da gravy is the magic binder that blends all the components into a perfect dish for any time of the day. 15 pork hash to go and now Loco Moco. Next in line is a LAU LAU
Loco Moco is a Hawaiian fusion dish representing the different cultures in those islands. Rice from the Japanese, macaroni salad from the Americans, hamburger patty from the cattle herds established in Hawaii during the middle of the last century, brown gravy because everyone likes gravy (and, as johnkim163 already posted, it ties the whole dish together), and an egg because it's cheap yet adds a whole other texture to the dish.
@@dannythemedic It is actually worthy of note. Fresh meat was scarce in Hawaii for many decades - the reason why Spam is so popular there is that it was the only affordable & available source of meat. The creation of cattle herds made a huge difference in Hawaiian cuisine.
I loooove me some Loco Moco - that one was kind of weird, almost as if they gave you the separate components to assemble yourself (vs. traditional in a bowl with rice on the bottom, then burger, then gravy, and eggs on top). Hey, but most places in Hawaii don't give you mac salad or green salad with a Loco Moco either, much less both, so that's a bonus.
I did not! .. and I am not one to judge locomoco... the best would be to me: just a greasy 80/20 patty on jasmine rice, with the burned pan great poured on top
Congrats on reaching 30K subscribers. Everything looked good on that LOCO MOCO except I would have preferred the dark brown gravy instead and the eggs over easy.
Finally, you got some peace and quiet while eating. No chairs with cushions. At 74, and being a slow eater, I need some chairs that have cushions. I like the way you rate the water with that Awwww...The ice needs rating too. Clear ice should be rated higher than that cloudy ice. At the Petrossian Bar in the Bellagio, I saw them prepare a drink with a clear ice that was a ball about the size of a ping pong ball.
