I was driving on 99 before it got shut down and it was THE scariest thing I’ve ever experienced in my 34 years of living 😩. So much water surrounded me but was able to get to my destination without any harm.
hopefully the state keeps the water levels high in the reservoirs instead of releasing all that fresh water into the ocean like they have done in the past. California needs to fix the draught it had.
Some years ago I visited Sacramento and the TV in the motel had one channel that was a neat history of the place, on about a 1-hour loop. It was interesting and I wish every city did this. The one thing that stuck with me was it said something like, "The natural state of Sacramento is 15 feet underwater".
Natural state of Sacramento? its not a state but in an unatural state evidently.🌊 5-6 inches is a bit of rain in such a wide area. Could have happened times be for.
There used to be a lake Tulare not too long ago and you could've sailed from kern county to Sacramento on boat! We definitely changed the landscape, I'm unsure why we settled over a lake.
You know, the great sorcerer Robert The Plant predicted this in 1971. He said, "If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break. When the levee breaks, I'll have no place to stay."
Prescient, that man. He also predicted the great lemon flood of 1974. He said, "Squeeze me, baby, until the juice runs down my leg. The way you squeeze my lemon, I'm gonna fall right outta bed." All true.
Yesterday I received 4 flash flood weather emergency alerts and 3 before noon today. The alerts named ALL of locations/rivers/levees. However some driver's still went out.
On the Consumnes river the civil engineers should cut into consumes river as a canal that flows southward into San Joaquin county then hook up with calaveras river system
How can we leave? I can’t charge my Tesla or EV with the power outage? I should have kept my gas powered vehicle that will travel just under 600 miles on only 24 gallons of unleaded fuel.
I wish news folks would realize that many people from elsewhere watch these videos on youtube, etc. not just locally and at least do a quick google maps showing just where the places mentioned are.
Imagine this if you will if the state of California didn't go and build that High-Speed Rail costing billions upon billions of dollars to run from San Francisco to Los Angeles that money could have been well spent on improving the levees along those Rivers .
California never prepared for anything...a few months ago there's not enough water, then there's too much....the state always out of step and unprepared
People have to understand that once the water gets in the car engine than the car nor truck will not be able to move. Most people doesn't understand that water can get into a car's engine than the car engine is dead, and the truck will not move anywhere.
Emergency reporting I understand is a priority. Emptying reservoirs as possible to make room for more rain to prevent flooding is also occurring. And with all the flooding remains the drought. The seemingly hated water diversion system to bring water to Southern California. There's plenty of water to move right now and that's what I'm wondering. Are they moving massive amounts of water as fast as possible and as much as possible to dry areas such as Southern California? Are the pumps on high and canals filled to the brim passing through the dry to Southern reservoirs? Who needs Colorado River water when there's so much at this time seemingly racing to the ocean. Valuable farmland obviously, what areas are there meant to hold the flood waters? Levy's breaking sounds like we're trying to keep all the water within the river to race it to the ocean. Wells drying, could they be pumping water into the deep Wells to recharge underground water supplies and are they doing those kind of things? Is it something farmers can do or do it on their own? When the rains are gone the drought will return. Future rain storms when they come will probably become stronger still yet. How to prepare and make best use of water opportunities and disasters like this? Is the water transfer from north to south operating at full capacity and are there opportunities such as pumping the water into deep Wells something that's happening or could be? Will a farmer want to pump water into his well if it's going to leave his property? So how do you get everybody in on that when it rains even heavier perhaps two years from now the next time? With climate change it's guaranteed the next big storm is going to be bigger than any ever seen before sitting records every time a storm comes in.
I was wondering the same. Why not send this excess water south? There are so many empty wells lakes and aquifers that would greatly benefit. Owens valley comes to mind as a deserving recipient of these excess waters. Lake los angeles, lake Hughes lake elizabeth are dry lakes ready to hold lots of water. Send some of this storm water there and quench the dry land instead of dumping water into the ocean
If you have time grab yourself a copy of a book called The Cadillac desert. This will explain the reoccurring droughts and the political reasons they exist
I think when people ask for rain , or, ask the mother nature of water, they must say exactly how much of the water they are asking to not get upset with the quality after their dreams comes true.
electric cars can't be charged in extream cold or a flood? The infrastructure to charge them in a flood is not even safe! If you and your family depended on it fir there life, then what?
I wonder if the prayers for rain [signs I see on 99],and the prayers to stop the rain, cancel each other out.....What a conundrum to be in if someone was actually in charge of granting prayers
Have we crossed the point of no return in terms of damaging the planet? There is no such point. We need to trust that our thought, which is our greatest quality, can change nature. We only need to understand the direction to which we should aim our thoughts. What should we think about? What condition or state should we aspire to and ask for? In order to save our planet, we should think about positive human connections. That is, how can we, in our connections, keep nature safe? How can we all together protect our world? If we truly wish to better our planet, then we should see people holding a concern for how to positively connect everywhere that we look. It has nothing to do with recycling or other activities that we commonly associate with as being sustainable. If we come closer to and consider each other, that we will reach an entirely organic, perfectly connected and round state, then the negative forces will disappear from the world. We need to understand that if we start thinking better about each other, then the planet will recover from all harm, because our thoughts are the strongest force in nature. Likewise, our negative thoughts about each other are entirely to blame for damaging the planet. That is why the more we recycle and invest in energies and activities that we commonly think of as being sustainable, the worse our planet becomes. Nothing will work to benefit us until we reach a state where our attitude changes toward each other for the better to protect and improve our planet.
I was there around 12:30ish and seen the cars under water it was crazy was stuck in that shyt for 4 .5 hours had to drive back to stockton instead of home in sacramento
