@ChateauDeBailey Ole Dave would hit the bottle too much, and lost his driver's license. Then he could only drive on dirt, non public road's, or have a driver.
they were 1917 Ford Plymouth with reinforced Kevlar tires and windscreen. The cars were made from nylon fibres the same used in ladies stockings. This made the firebird chasis very lightweight. They had electric motors so the crooks could not hear the cops coming. My uncle Theo had 16 of these cars he used to trade for silver nitrate when the cars were disposed of due to the plutonium depletion.
The Squad Cars were mostly 55 - 58 Buick Century models that had the high performance V8 engines in the lighter body Special, cheaper model. A special had only 3 portholes on the fenders; but the Century was a 4-hole fender to designate the hot v8 under the hood.
Because people had a desire to keep their homes neat & tidy, as you say. Which means they could Afford the expense of having the work done . My Dad made a modest living but he always had repairs and maintenance done. But today, with a. demented corrupted old fool in the WH , people just can’t make ends meet with his Inflation Agenda
In part I believe because most of the neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area, that are shown in these shows , the houses are brand new “tract style” and there are little or no shrubs to clutter up the shots :)

@@christophercantrell1831 Talk about a diverse actor! I enjoyed Broderick in General hospital when he played the role of a deranged female psychopathic psychiatric nurse who moidered her/his patients. It was hilarious as on several episodes Broderick was as drunk as a skunk and forgot to shave! Dressed as a woman in a nurses uniform and high heels 😂 He spoke fast as well when he was in General hospital as well!
my uncle was CHP in the Torrance area--his buddy gave my sis and i (we were 5,7 yo) a ride in a brand new '57 Dodge CHP car--he belted us both with one seat belt in the front seat-we roared around the hills in the beach area scaring my sis to death--never could do that today...
Simple and cheesie by todays standards ........but screw todays standards . I love this show. Records everyday so I can watch at night . An Oldie Goldie for sure .

I've watched a few of these but now a load of them in 2 hours. Great. The raid on the gambling den was a bit strange, not letting a rich Texan in but letting a phone repairman in and falling for the measuring trick.
"The Golden Pheasant" is still there at Carson and Budlong in Torrance. The area has been considerably built up since then. HP used the area around Torrance for a lot of their exteriors.
my uncle was CHP in the Torrance area after ww2 til early 60ties--he hated writing tickets so they put him in the truck scales i think it was on the harbor freeway--my dad and i would stop in--they always had boxes of produce the truckers would leave--back then the truckers would stop and drink coffee with CHP-no way anymore
The wife in Reckless Driving is really top-notch! I mean the character...she's literally showing people how to be a supportive spouse trying to help her husband out of a jam.
This is in a world where a cop could patrol alone. Imagine this happening now in any major city. Also, you'll notice that the patrol cars are Buick's and Oldsmobiles. Which gives you an idea of the tax base the state and local counties had in those pre sixties, pre WOKE times....
When I was little I was watching this show. Momma told my big brother to explain to me why I shouldn’t pick my nose when watching TV. He said they could see us too. And if I didn’t quit picking my nose Matthews was going to give a ticket. I always observed great manners when watching TV after that! Lol!
Ava 🐻 enjoys the extra smooth tobacco experience of a Newport 100. Classy & dignified, you will be noticed and envied. Nothing compares to the enjoyment of a Newport. 🚬
3 things i remember as kid growing up in SoCal was those big black and whites,my uncle was CHP in Torrance area, his huge .357 on his hip,the Greyhound buses roaring down the road in the left lane, they had a schedule and everybody got out of their way!!
"Dan Matthews," I can understand only every third or fourth word, he never cracks a smile. Takes himself way too seriously. When Mr. Crawford hosted Saturday Night Live it was the same thing. No smiles. This was a very good series in its day. When the gambling casino operator says "We're not criminals...." he was correct. When Dan Matthews disagreed with the casino operator, he was incorrect. Gambling is not criminal.

Me alegro que aun en estos. Días se recuerde a estos actores de mi tiempo los 60 en ese tiempo todo era real los actores eran muy buenos en todos los filmes congratulations
This episode is before Broderick got a DUI and a car accident …..the scar on his forehead … supposedly they took away his drivers license temporarily and he could only drive CHP cars on a closed road 😊
On the first one, he just shoots the guy a couple times with no followup inspection. Tells the other cop to call the coroner, he has a couple kids he has to take to the circus. Man, those were the days!
I record these episodes every day on MeTV. Man...Broderick talks so fast sometimes I can't understand him! I've noticed they never mention the "make" of a car...always "black sedan" or "white convertible." Otherwise for 1955 - 1956 they are pretty good shows.
@@TraceeRae kinda- california Highway patrol was,is 98 percent highway enforcement--as law enforcement their power is state wide--they only assist other agencies--by law they are supposed to be always in uniform and clearly marked cars so people(criminals) can't pretend to be them--there was never unmarked cars or guys like Crawford running around in a suit!! only talking about california--had family members in CHP--they are top notch cops the most part--

I dont watch tv but the news. Other then that i watch all old cop movies old cowboy movies old just old movies in general. They dont have all the sinfull stuff like swaring and bad words. Things were simple back in the 50s 60s
fbi did the heavy cases--california chp was in league of its own back then--when you saw that big ol black and white coming up behind you ,get out of the way! same with the greyhound buses--they owned the left lane!
Omg my heart nearly stopped when he said how old are you to the little girl in the bus,… about 10? He just got out of prison ,…. Well you know what mean? I just hope he doesn’t ! 😮
I watch it sometimes early in the a.m., on meTV. Never very good. My understanding is that each episode was budgeted at only $25K per, and that is reflected in the dodgy production values, not to mention the cheapest acting talent they could find. Also, BC had at that time a persistent and nasty alcohol problem and was frequently bombed on set. The best part: the cars of the period.
I cannot swear to this but I read Crawford was usually seen doing his driving in the country because for much of the time his show was in production he didn't have a driver's license because of his drunk driving.
@@rickdaystar477 That is accurate, I think. The police officials who supervised the production called him "ol' 502". 502 is the police code for drunk driver. It was a jest then. Not now. Alcoholism is a terrible affliction. My mother and too many of her family suffered by it.
