Keeping pace with Mr Paice in a hard driving song about driving! THE SONG - "Highway Star" was written by hard rock / heavy metal band Deep Purple members guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, vocalist Ian Gillan, bassist Roger Glover, keyboardist Jon Lord, and drummer Ian Paice. It's the opening track on the album 'Machine Head' which is considered to be the band's most commercially successful album. Along with the other songs, "Highway Star" was recorded between Dec 6 and 21, 1971 in Montreux, Switzerland at the Grand Hotel. This was during the infamous period when the originally intended recording venue, the Montreux Casino, burned down which inspired their famous song "Smoke On The Water". The album 'Machine Head' was released on Mar 25, 1972 and was a chart-topper in at least 9 countries. In the UK it reached #1 during the week of its release and remained in the top 40 for 20 weeks. In the US, it entered the Billboard 200 at #166 on Apr 15, 1972 and peaked at #7 more than a year later on Aug 11, 1973. It was last seen at #189 on Aug 31, 1974 the following year after 118 weeks on the chart. "Highway Star" was released as a single in March 1972. It apparently did not chart in the US or UK. It did reach #30 in France. The song is about a man who loves his high-powered car. Roger Glover has been quoted as saying they wrote the song on Sept 13, 1971 on the way to a gig in Portsmouth, UK. They had been opening their set with "Speed King" and had grown tired of it so "Highway Star" became their new opener. Drummer Ian Paice, a member of Deep Purple from the very beginning up to the present, got his first drum kit at age 15 and joined Deep Purple in Feb 1968 at age 19. In the '70s he used Ludwig drums. He plays left-handed and is known for his fast single and double stroke rolls. In this brief video he demonstrates his unique one-handed roll ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ppX4wJL37j4.html THE DRUM COVER - Sina is well qualified in the Ian Paice style. She has several previous Deep Purple cover / collab videos and a drum tutorial video for "Smoke On The Water" so it's no surprise that she handled "Highway Star" like a star. I've always wondered why it was so hard to hit the number 1 spot on the charts in the US back in those days. Nowadays, some teeny boppin' crap debuts and automatically it's #1.
thank you for the info., you always do a great job of giving the info., Sina or Sina and who ever she works with on a song, do a super job on the song, and you and Ro do a super job of giving the facts. I have found everyone has a really great personality.
You go girl ! This was a fantastic album. I agree with the guy who said that it's great seeing the younger generation imbrase these old songs and albums .
Being a Deep Purple fan from the beginning, (I am 64 yrs young) I can say that you did an excellent job in your tribute to Ian. No one can ever say that you disrespected the band in any way. Good job my Dear.
You don't get this good without passion for your craft, dedication, hard work, and a commitment to the pursuit of perfection. What a testament to young folk everywhere. Let it rip girl.
Oh My God. I have been waiting for Highway Star and what do you do? Create another instant classic and the next 10M plus viewed drumming lesson for the world. Such a flawless pleasure to watch. Whirlwind is right!
WARNING TO EVERYONE: Turn your amp down before you play any Sina Drums cover. Bloody Hell, the mix is so good on all her videos. You wanna wake up the neighbours? Don't put on Bryan Adams, put on Sina. ;) With no disrespect to Bryan Adams. I like lots of his stuff too. I think her dad does the mixing, so Sina's dad....this beer is for you. :) Anyone else see Andrei Cerbu's guitar solo of this song? Pretty excellent. :) EDIT: Here it is. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zRppKnayYTk.html

Dang! This young lady is the real deal. Been a Purple fan since the 70’s! I know this would bring a big grin to Mr. Ian!!!! Well done and much respect.
So many people can take lessons for years and years and still never come anywhere near as proficient as this young lady! Perfection personified! I have been playing 25 years and don't have the technical skill this young lady has, It is something she was obviously born with! Such a treat to watch her. Thanks Sina!
Best drummer that I've ever seen, and I'm a 64 year old soundman that has seen every band. I ran sound for many bands, even Foghat when the soundman had the flu. I just went to see them. I saw that the soundman was sick and stepped in.

Highway Star is Sina's 13 video to pass 10 million views. Next closest RU-vid drummers are Matt McGuire with 8, Meytal 7, Cooper and A-Yeon with 6. Congratulations Sina.
Ian Paice is majorly (and unfortunately) unrecognized as one of the all time greatest rock and roll drummers of all time. Quick hands. Awesome chops. Incredible beats. Just listen to not only this song but listen to Burn, Smoke on the water, Pictures of home, Lazy and sooo much more. He is perhaps the best drummer in that rock era. I know everyone thinks that John Bonham was it. And he was very innovative. But, Ian Paice played with such strength and creative licks that no one held a candle to. Sina, you nailed this. One of their fastest moving songs. You are absolutely amazing to me! Ive been playing drums for over 40 years! I have this and many other songs down tight but to see you play this like you do is incredible! Love you man!
I agree with you. Personally, I think Bonzo was not nearly as talented as Paice, but it is just an opinion. Beyond that, I suggest to include Mr. Neal Pearl to the "top of the world" list. Regards
Man I love this song! That makes sbout 4 or 5 in a row now that I've said the same exact thing , slow ride, something else before that, something else before that. I love the songs but it's the time travel that makes them so much fun for me. I was 7 years younger than Sina is now when I first heard this song as a new release. Who knew Sina would come along 47 years later and recapture the energy of this song, or the other half dozen I've heard today, or the 30-40 I've heard so far on this channel. How is it possible that I can go back in a drumbeat to my teens again, when I'm am so very far from my teens! And not the hard part of them, but the BEST part of them! Thank you Sina.
I'm 66 and I've seen the best rock and roll, performed live, that our generation produced. This lady has it. She is a goddess with the sticks. Are we sure she's not a witch? (JUST KIDDING), But she's special.
Been following SIna for years. Always knew she was a really good drummer, until this song cover, which I had never seen somehow. Now I know 100% she is a GREAT DRUMMER! * She performed thins song, better that any man, woman or child I know. I Promote and book bands all over and there is not one drummer, that can top her. She is truly a monster behind her kit and a pleasure to watch. Every fill was filled and every beat pounded out just right. I often wonder is she is left handed, with that incredible power she has on both hands., Perhaps she is ambidextrous. God bless you Sina~~ 🤘💞
I've been a Deep Purple fan since they first began performing. One of the features of the band in my opinion was the drum work. Ian Paice was brilliant. You are right up there with him, Sina. What more can I say but Wow! Well done!
Ian Paice would be so proud of this ...Sina is easily one of the BEST drummers EVER. She easily matches Paice, Ginger Baker, John Bonham and many, many others. She is far beyond talented.
Being an old dude, i love how you play so many songs from my time . i was in a band in the 70's and this brings it all back . i remember that we usually had this as the last song in a set, because it's so draining for everyone . you really nailed it.
James Davis - very well worded- I had the same sentiment but would have struggled to find the words to express it! Sina spreads joy not only with her talent but with her spirit and enthusiasm for great music.
What I wanna know is where does her physical power come from? Holy scheiss, she hits as hard as Bonham did and obviously she does not have have the upper body that he had (thank God 😊) . Furthermore did anyone else spot that at one point she took a second to sweep her hair away from her face with her right hand and she LITERALLY DID NOT MISS A BEAT. I wonder if she's a tennis player. If she is can you imagine what her two-handed backhand would be like? I swear I thought she was gonna pound her floor tom right through the floor. You're FANTASTIAWESOMAGICAL Sina Doering , you're one of a kind. Im back here one year later in late July of 2022. Im still blown away by this. Clearly she's in full beast mode here. Kudos and Bravos!
@@garycampbell4529 I'm sure she would beat me quickly. It might be embarrassing for me but I'd do it just to meet her, talk with her and then play with her. I'm an intermediate hobbyist-guitarist. Since I'm 60 years old and love classic rock music the most (though I love other genres ) our tastes intersect like a venn diagram, with a large area of intersection in the middle.
Exceptional on every level... Sina you truly nailed this classic that I've been listening to since I was 14 (1974)! Stroke for stroke, I can feel the cords of the organ, the bass, the riffs of the Blackmore and can feel yourr mastery of this kit!!! Great job!!

I have just discovered this young lady. I'm calling in sick to work so I can sit here all day and watch her doing her thing. Absolutely unbelievable. You nailed Highway Star 100% perfect. Even the ending which is mega-tough. You absolutely nailed it! Amazing!
Don't worry about it. That number is just under .02% of the likes. That is very, very low number. Nobody ever gets 100% thumbs up. Some people just live their lives to hate others. Can't do anything about that. The best thing to do is just ignore them.
Sina is a good drummer .... great ... sets a very high standard for her, Paice is phenomenal, loose and irresistible, maybe she is measured by her knowledge?
Hi Sina, this was the first time I’ve seen this cover of Highway Star, since that first day my brother Billy told me about you. This was the first cover I ever saw that you had done. Needless to say I have chills seeing it. I miss Billy but so so happy to continue to follow your journey. ☺️
