That's what makes him so good with Shakespeare - his Exeter in Henry V and his Ghost in Hamlet were all the more ferocious because we all knew THIS was lying just below the surface, this howling, batshit-mad crazy man you had better listen to as if your coddlings were at stake. He's so good when he underplays his roles.
5:31 gets me every single time. The unexpected and completely over the top interruption, and the way Duncan reacts - he’s caught so off guard that you can see him whirl around with a “who the fuck said that!” expression for a brief moment before he realizes.
Note to ALL car manufacturers: Replace that little lamp on the dashboard with Brian Blessed yelling *"PETROL!!!!! WE'RE RUNNING OUT!!"* I guarantee, noone will run dry ever again.
What's your favourite line? Mine was; "If I'd known before that he was a sleazebag I probably wouldn't have gone anywhere near him." So the photo of his knackers weren't a giveaway..."
Has ANY television show anywhere in the world ever gone so spectacularly and hilariously off the rails as this?? Comedy gold, and you don't have to understand the specifics of British politics to love it.
Im sure Ive seen this several times before but every time a HIGNFY episode with Brian Blessed in it comes up in my feed, Im watching it. What a legend.
I highly recommend you listen to/watch the Richard Herring Leicester Square Theatre Podcast episode with him, it's 90 minutes of insanity. It's absolutely amazing.
This has to be the funniest episode of HIGNFY. Brian Blessed is a national treasure. He is also quite mad. I haven't laughed so much on my own since reading the Spike Milligan war diaries. .
About the Prison news: Watch 'bad lads army'. Many commented that National Service was so much harder than their times behind bars, not to mention prison being bad for young adults who lost their way.
I haven't yet moved to the UK when this was actually broadcast, but even without understanding every reference to then current affairs, I laugh my arse off watching this. Which I have done several times by now.
@@octaviancaesarhibernicus4447 “Augustus also styled himself as Imperator Caesar divi filius, "Commander Caesar son of the deified one" From his Wikipedia entry. …Also, listen to Mike Duncan’s The History of Rome podcast!
Christ that has to be the funniest show ever. How I wish I could have been in the studio alongside the crew who must have been thinking there jobs were going to go after the first 5 minutes. Sometimes the funniest moments on tv are the one's that are not pre-planned. If you don't find this funny you need a humour transplant
Well, this is a satirical quiz show, not a session of parliament. Besides, Alan Duncan did not take any offence at his remarks, as he knew that they were not intended as actual threats. As if anyone would take a statement like "shut your face" the wrong way, especially coming from Brian Blessed, who is one of the most jolly and lovable people you could wish to meet.
+mindlessgonzo Boy. I would have no idea, sadly. It's like asking how did Fidel Castro manage to be a leader for so long, even after almost destroying the world and killing his best friends.
Got to admit, I never would have pictured this garbage as being worthy of Brian Blessed... and then my life became complete when he proved me wrong. I bloody love this man. :D
8 (not 2) out of 10 Cats Does Countdown is a spinoff. 8 out of 10 Cats is a comedy panel show where panelists try and guess the most popular responses to topical questions of the day. Countdown is a very dry and professorial quiz show. Having the comedians from "Cats" play countdown with some extra twists was a stroke of genius. After all, it gave us Joe Wilkinson's poem, and the Tiger Who Came for a Pint.
I worked in a learning difficulties home, and one of the residents party piece was to throw poo , it landed on my Forehead as a joke I carried on eating my lunch, I was a bit of a windup merchant
Have you seen the Boris Johnson episodes ? Long before he was PM he appeared on several episodes , I honestly think this show is responsible for Boris’s popularity and political career , The Leftie BBC have never forgiven themselves 😂😂😂😂
I was so fortunate to get tickets to this episode - 3 friends and I were actually in the front row. One of the best nights out we'd ever experienced! Brian was on top form - it took about an hour just to film round 1. Part the way through the episode, the producer had to stop the recording because there was a queue of taxis waiting outside to collect those who had booked them in advance. We weren't able to leave the studio until gone midnight - so much of the whole footage had to be left out. Absolutely amazing.
practice your bellow. be sure they can hear you clearly in the next county. and Read. every, any, document, book, pamphlet, tome, absorb the information and use it. the insanity comes in just when you're not looking...
The only thing bigger than Brian Blessed is his VOICE, and the only thing bigger than Brian Blessed's VOICE is his personality. An absolute treasure of a man.
