I would like to see you do a review of the Hik 15, about half the price and many of the features of the Hik 35. I enjoyed your honest, off the cuff review of the Hik 35.

Chris, as an owner of the 35 i have to agree with everything you mention, i am always scepticle of online reviews , but you have done this a very fair justice, it really is a cracking thermal in my opinion and every bit on par with some a 1K more in price. Well done you now have a new fan.

Informative as usual. I like your "off the cuff style". Happy new year.

I’ve been using one constantly and like you, have access to most of all the latest and greatest which are not always so with the latter. I completely concur with all you say but would like to add that in comparison with the many others I test etc, this Vulcan does not give me the eye strain that I’ve experienced with others and I think that’s a huge plus especially when doing all night fox watch etc. It also charges much quicker when using a USB-C charger rather than a normal USB port which when you read the online instructions seems to suggest a dedicated charger would benefit and this has been raised with the importers. I supplement it with a WULF portable power bank and it charges quickly using that which I assume is similar to the foregoing, but of course a lead connection is required, not too handy necessarily in the field etc. When in a vehicle most have a USB connection to utilise. All in all like you say a decent piece of kit. I also tested the much cheaper 15mm and for most night users and day stalkers I think this would fit the bill and one sold locally to me is mighty pleased. Like you I found the hot spot feature to be too congested and unnecessary battery drain, so keep it switched off but it may appeal to some. Your off the cuff assessments are some of the very best online and much appreciated I would suggest, by the hunting shooting fraternity

Chris - can the firmware be updated? Or are you 'stuck' with the version you buy? Also have you ever used any of the 'Guide' thermals as a comparison? The Guide 35 seems similar spec and price.

Hi I've got the Vulcan . Most of what you said I agree with . The sky problem I do get . Fox I can see easy and identify at 400 yards . The date stamp was one that I did as hik vision about and they sent me a email how to sort it out that I still have. The firmware update I'm waiting on do you know any more on that ?
