I dont know if they did a baseline off screen first, but as early as the first question, they guy monitoring seemed to be reading far too into things. Continuing to discuss the question and answer after can elicit different feelings, regardless of the truth. A reaction after further conversation doesn't mean he was questioning his answer, but rather the conversation that was occurring. Like, trying to say I am lying after it was shown I wasn't would probably cause an internal reaction for sure. The whole test was definitely not properly administered.

Unfortunately, that's not exactly how things are. Just like Hikaru, Levy is a Monarch Slave, and many things have been happening in the chess world (including from what I can tell, his road to GM and stuff that happens within it) to keep my interest up in chess, or otherwise manipulate (or influence) me. At least, that's how it's been looking primarily, so far. Ma cha for more inf (crypt cuz sahwdonbas).

There is no concrete physiological marker for lying or deception. A polygraph can only be used properly as an intimidation tactic and nothing else. If it works, it does by pressuring the truth out of the person under the gun.

Problem is lie detectors work of base level. U can be a bad liar and still fool a test. As long as u just pump up your heartrate with breathing exercises before every question its really hard to see where the true false line is. Which is why the guy instantly said he was trying to cheat. Its very noticeable. Doesnt mean u can control facial expressions etc.

@@TurboShred13Everyone lies for various reasons. I think we all lie out of shame, instinctively. But some people lie to manipulate others which I would argue is worse. I believe when Hikaru says he does not lie, he means he does not misrepresent facts to manipulate others. But we all lie to ourselves, sometimes to the point we give automatic responses to things we are ashamed of. This is more of a deep rooted and personal problem, whereas lying to manipulate others is more nefarious.
