I know how you feeling I lost my last 3 games too and the last one my opponent blundered his queen in move 4 and I had premoved and missed it and eventually lost the game

Hikaru doesn't miss anything. His rating indeed went from 3217 to 3238, a gain of 21 points. Might be a bug with chess.com because the modal box said Hikaru only gained 5 points, which obviously isn't true.

Slow opening = an opening that does not result in early tactical positions and dynamic complications. In general most Queen Pawn openings are slower, more positional (always exceptions of course). Opposite of slow is sharp. You are Welcome guys. FM Kimani from Nairobi, Kenya.

@@chio1877 the score chess engines give depending on which side is better in a particular position, if it's white It'd be plus + if it's black It'd be minus - eg +0.85 means white is slightly better, +2.35, white has a winning advantage, this means if white plays correctly they'd definitely win the game, now same goes for black but in Black's case it'd be -2.35

Not enough data to make that conclusion, he would need to be beating Magnus all year not just one match and by a game , to really say he is better, kind of like the way Naka beats Alireza.

Nakamura in general do seem to have an easier time with Firouzja. But the last time, to my knowledge, Carlsen and Firouzja played a blitz match Carlsen ended up adopting Firouzja.

In the past he said it’s a mental thing like he’s forcefully putting the piece there to kind of say what a good move it was. He realizes his opponent can’t hear/see this but it became a habit.

+21 points is +5 for the win and 16 points refund from the cheater game www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/5159969744. That game also features 11. Nb5 Nc8 12. h4 h5 13. Nc3 maneuver, which doesn't make any sense, but it's the best move.

I think the reason Hikaru gained 21 points that game (but only displayed +5) is because he gained points somewhere during that game due to some of his previous opponents being cheaters... I don’t think chess.com updates ratings mid-game
