In his speech, Jahan Zaveri emphasizes the importance of balance, or Samathavam, as a core principle in life, drawing from the teachings of the Gita. He explains that true balance is internal and achieved by aligning with one’s nature, svadharma, and dedicating work to a purpose beyond oneself, rather than simply finding equal time for work and rest. He concludes by encouraging the audience to reflect on their passions, prioritize self-actualization, and engage in activities that promote mental equanimity for a fulfilling life.
After finishing high school at B.D. Somani International School in 2015, Jahan Zaveri went on to study Economics and Religious Studies at Cornell. The philosophy bug had been brewing in him from his teens but his exposure in university gave him the conviction that philosophy is not just for reading and classrooms; it needs to be mastered, practised, and applied in our daily lives. So, after a short stint selling cat food at Walmart, he came back to India and enrolled at the Vedanta Academy in Lonavala. Over the last four years, under the guidance of Swami A. Parthasarathy, he has been studying the philosophy of Vedanta which unravels the eternal principles of life and living.
