So called experienced hikers going there without weapons is inviting death. In the wild safety is number one priority and survival skills are not to be neglected.

But the *idea* of an electric fence is sound. Just not for frickin' polar bears. I'm glad Matt made it out and we now know polar bears are ridiculously fierce. Because there was a lot of doubt before then. 🙃

They explained just how dangerous polar bears are because they're sneaky, determined and expert ambush predators. Sentrys were doubled up, and you never wandered off alone or unarmed. They also showed us the results where tourists had wandered off to see the 'endangered' polar bears. In polar bear country, they're not endangered, we are. Especially if tourism and scare tactics end up with the bears losing what little fear of humans they have.

All bears and predators need eradicated it will soon happen. Sharks will be the last predators on earth. California has already killed off every grizzly in the state. All places will follow when they get tired of their family members getting killed.

The only solution is to put the bear down before it becomes a rouge bear.

John's getting close, he has been noticed. Love it, he deserves it.

Because his reading from a script/manuscript (etc) has something left to be desired is why. I love his way of telling stories, BUT, him doing it in these videos, seemingly very natural and organic, going with the flow is where he shines. However, his actual reading of stories is nowhere near as good. He sounds really wooden, like you can tell he's reading from something written down.

They described feeling no pain, and just looked up at the cats eyes and were amazed by how beautiful it was up close. Though the Christian life isn't a life absent of difficulty, despite any circumstance Jesus gives true peace and fulfillment, a peace and fulfillment this world cannot give (John 14, John 16).

I agree 🙂 whenever I’m listening to podcasts I end up having to keep going back to listen because my mind wanders but when I’m watching these particular story time videos it’s easier for me to lose myself in the story because I’m able to focus on the body language which definitely enhances the experience 🙃

I love these videos too, getting to see real photos of places and items from the stories really adds to it, but doesn't hurt if I'm too tired to open my eyes and look lol

And every bit of what occurred, entirely preventable. Flare guns? How about a capable rifle instead? Camping by the beach? How about trekking inland, as discussed in the safety brief, the recommended 1/4 mi. minimum? Electric fence? What a joke. Everything about these supposed 'guides' screams incompetence. I'd LOVE to travel to a place such as the Torngat Mountains in my lifetime, and observe polar bears from a distance. But, I'd never step foot into an area with such a heavy bear presence, without something such as my S&W X-Frame strapped to my person at all times, no exceptions, as well as (preferably to me), a semi-auto "battle rifle" of the .30 caliber, and 20 round mags. Which is why I'd never be able to see such a place. I can imagine, apart from Canadian firearm laws being extremely stringent, there are likely additional laws surrounding the carrying of firearms within their national parks.

Well I will try to answer your question to the best of my ability Mr. Matt Dyer had told me the story I would say somewheres in 2015 somewheres around that area I don’t really recall how the subject came about but he did mention that he did go on vacation up north and he did tell us how he had been attacked by a polar bear and was very lucky to survive the ordeal like I said it’s been a while since he told me the story so I don’t really remember it Word for Word but when I saw the movie that Mr. Ballin had posted and saw the picture of Mr. Matt Dyer which to me was a very good attorney but now he’s not down here anymore in Lewiston Maine he still practices as an attorney but in a different location so like I was saying when I saw this on Mr. Ballen‘s program and I saw the picture I said to my fiancé oh my God this is Matt Dyer and then I remembered the story that he had told us and I says to myself and my fiancé well I guess he wasn’t making it up the story really was true from what he had told us he did get attacked he was badly wounded I think he did mention something about a flare gun in my own opinion to tell you the honest truth I would never go on a vacation in such a remote place where there are such dangerous things as these polar bears without having some bear spray or a firearm to defend myself in case of something like this would ever happen but I guess at the time these people weren’t thinking about the dangers of something like this ever happening but thank God the quick thinking of his friends on doing what they did with the flare gun was a very good thing and thank God that Mr. Dyer survived he is a very lucky man or should I say a miracle that he survived that ordeal I guess that’s about all that I can tell you thank you for your question and I hope that my answer was satisfactory to the best of my knowledge for you God bless you Mr. Matt Dyer and Mr. Ballin I enjoy his stories very much and who knows maybe someday I may have a story to put on there myself that is all goodbye

Shannon Luciano, I myself would not go anywhere near a place like that unless I (and the others) can take weapons; the people in the expedition are paying guests, and although some of them had prior experience and should've known that their personal safety is their own responsibility, ultimately the responsibility of the trip lays on the guides, because they're supposed to be the experts. I say this being completely ignorant of the laws there; I don't know whether they all wanted to take guns, but the laws prevented them from doing so. At the end I'm glad Matt survived and recover from his injuries. Great story telling!!!

They were all probably talking the night before about how they were all so much into thrill seeking experiences and so forth.. and that they were all in it for the thrill

Those are my favorite. Though gruesome & awefull, I cannot believe how much people just do not follow the rules, sign posts, or warnings. The Yosemite Park falling into boiling volcanic steam water was aweful. There are a few other one's that still haunt me. Everything John does is just so good........even his commercials.
