After leaving Etosha, I drove into Damaraland. This region is famous for its stunning rock formations and desert animals.
After spending a morning tracking elephants in Twyfelfontain, I headed down to Spitzkoppe to do a little bit of hiking.

Wow, that's a great video of an incredible outdoor experience, I went once to Namibia but didn't have the time to record a hike there, you kind of satisfied that desire with this video, thanks a lot! Was so nice to follow you out there and will definitely do the same here on youtube, looking forward to your next one ;) Have a wonderful day Elsbeth and happy trails, Mario

Hello Elsbeth, my wife and I have been following your travels since the begining of your channel. We love the down to earth, not overhiped approach and so much useful information you share. In fact, we are so inspired by your trip to Namibia that we are about to buy the tix and go end of this (northern) summer. Would you possibly share some of the info as far as a rental agency you used and perhaps your favorite lodges you stayed at? Grateful for your explorer spirit, and artistry (and so much effort) putting these videos together.

Wow this is such a sweet comment! It would not be an exaggeration to say this comment made my day. I am glad you are planning to go to Namibia, I think you will have an absolutely amazing time! I rented my car through 4X4 Namibia, but most of the rental companies will be roughly the same. For the car, I paid approximately $75 usd/day, and this included all of the camping gear plus the car. In hindsight, my big regret was not spending a little more (like $85/day) to get a slightly newer car. I had no way to charge my phone or play audio and that made some of the drives a bit more tiresome. My top 5 in Namibia were 1) Okonjima - this is a lodge and a reserve known for the Leopards. This was a surprise and I booked last minute 2) Etosha. I spent 2 nights camping but the campsites all also have rooms of various levels of comfort. If I were to go again I would spend 3 nights, moving from the East Side to the West side over 3 days 3) Sandwich Harbor dune tour. This was a tour from Swakopmund into the dunes south. I went with Red Dune Safaris, they offer an option to drive yourself which I would love to try next time! I stayed in The Delight in Swakopmund - very nice hotel for a good price and in a good location 4) Sossusvlei - highlight by far! I camped here, but there are 3 lodges in the park. They will be more expensive, but being able to get into the dunes right at sunrise is an absolute highlight 5) Kolmanskop Ghost Town - this is far south and is usually what is cut out of a Namibia itinerary. But I thought it was pretty cool. You can buy a photographer pass to the ghost town in Luderitz that will let you visit outside of the opening hours The one other lodge I recommend is the Kalihari Anib Lodge. Also a good deal and will probably be in the region of your first or last night in the country The two things that I was disappointed by were Spitzkoppe and Waterberg Plateau. This Both of these places I visited when I was most tired on the trip, so I am not sure if it was just my attitude or not

Follow those big poops and you'll find those elephants! I dug the rock formations. Do you climb in elevation to get there or are you still fairly low?
