Just a nice chilled out one today. Hiking a section of the Pennine Way. Crowden to Laddow Rocks heading up Black Hill. Epic views from the top, unfortunately my camera doesn’t do it justice!

Nice one, I love the Northern parts of the Peaks. I did the Crowden Horseshoe route, from Crowden following the Pennine Way all the way onto the top of Laddow Rocks ( stunning views) and then down to the bog fest ( even in dry summer weather) along Crowden Great Brook across Grains Moss and up to Black Hill trig. The descent via Tooleyshaw Moss and Westend Moss also had some bog and some random knee to waist deep holes hidden in the heather to contend with. It was an epic walk though and one I want to do again, maybe in July when I am next in Hayfield. Great video 👍

Cheers Greg, yes it’s quality up there. The views back down the valley are unreal aren’t they. To be honest the trails around Black hill are ones I need to get my head into more. So thanks for mentioning the Crowden Horseshoe route, just seen it’s around 8mile, should do nicely for a Sunday morning soon 👌 haha yes the bogs are interesting, jay lost his full leg in one a bit back, then I usually end up sat in them 😂

Nice video pal, this is the year for me to get up there, been saying that for a while now,are there any pathways at the foot of the rocks? More than likely I’ll be coming from chew res, and just spend most of the day in the valley, weather permitting 🤣

Cheers pal 👍 It’s well worth the walk, there’s some quality views up there. Yes there’s a foot path that runs pretty much the full length of the rocks it starts near the waterfall at the Oaken Clough Brook side and runs all the way up to the Fords below Black Chew Head. There is a cave on the right hand / Fords side of Laddow Rocks as well that’s worth a nosey if you’re head over from the top side! It’s an epic place to stop for a coffee! It all gets quite boggy after rain but bet it’s glorious on a dry sunny day!
