Start hiking the most dangerous and difficult trail on Oahu at the Pali Notches trailhead, heading straight up to the first flat area.
From the 1St flat area, I experience the stunning, magnificent views of Kaneohe and Kailua.
Next, from the first flat area, I proceed to the second flat area, that near to the first notch.
Descending from the first notch, I encounter the second notch. The up and downs of these notches are very deep.
I see the famous Chimney and the face rock wall, which I need to climb the almost vertical rock wall.
The hill from the rock wall
Looking back from the rock wall, I can see the Chimney, the two notches, and Pali Lookout in the distance.
Continuing along the narrow, overgrown bush trail, I make the way to the K1 summit.
At the K1 summit, enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view. From K1,
I can see in all directions, including the International Airport, the city of Honolulu, the East Kualoa mountain range, and Mount Olomana.
The trail is very muddy, making each step difficult even on sunny days.
In the distance, I spot Diamond Head, Waikiki, Honolulu, and the International Airport. From here, I can also see Manoa Valley.
As I continue, I walk towards a large rock wall. I’m going to meet Dr. Guan, who has been waiting for me for hours at K2.
Look, there he is!
Special thanks to Dr. Guan. He made me this hiked possible by hiking up to Mount Olympus, bringing water and food, and waiting for hours at K2. He also drove me back to Pali Lookout to pick up my car.
