Loved the intro and the gear b roll! I did Walpole to peaceful Bay a couple weeks ago, it was absolutely beautiful. The diverse forest/beach environments made it really interesting.

Avoid getting one large SD card mate. If the card dies you lose everything. It's better to have multiple smaller capacity ones. This was a redundancy technique I used in wedding photography before dual card slots were a thing. If you lose one card you don't lose everything.

Really great vid Josh. Just wondering which model Marmot jacket that is?
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 2 года назад
Hey Cam, to be honest I’m not completely sure. The only tags I could find on the jacket say that’s m/m M40910. Not sure if that helps?

Wow what a handsome devil at the start must have cost a fortune to hire him ;) great job with the video.

Makeup tends to have that illusion. The trick for free labour is to say you’re going to do aerial photos of the property and then bail before the job even starts

Really nice tailored gear to your needs. Just to clarify, you basically carry a full change of clothes (pants, dacks, shirt and socks) on every trip? Or is that your clothes worn?

How do you find your Atlas backpack in waterproofing your camera gear? In search of a backpack that can accommodate camera gears and hiking gears. Thanks!

This video was very helpful Josh. Thank you. Can you please let me know how much jet boil fuel you typically use per day for 1 person?
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 2 года назад
Glad it helped. It’s hard to say as I’ve never completely emptied a cannister before. A 230g canister says that it’s can boil 24 litres though which is a decent amount given the average dehydrated meal needs

Cheers Heidi. I don't have a lighterpack list, wasn't aware that was a thing to be honest! Something for me to look into

Which temperature rating Revelation do you use? You said Revelation 10, but on the website you linked to the Revelation 30 degree F (-1 degree C) and also mentioned this spec in the video. Is the 10 referring to the fabric?
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 3 года назад
Yeah my bad I buggered that one up. It’s just called the Revelation Quilt, rated to -1 degree C

What do you do for food storage and food waste (empty packets of the dehydrated meals you use) when you are out on the trail. I’ve had trouble with little critters eating through rubbish bags or trying to get into packs in some campsites. Do you ever have this issue? Do you store your food inside the tent?
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 3 года назад
Hey mate sorry, have been out on the trail for a few days so only just saw your other comment too. I’ve never had much of a problem with critters trying (aside from a roo nibbling at marsh mellows that I left out) to get at my food/left overs. I generally just throw it in used backcountry meals pack as they seal quite well and are pretty solid. And yep, store everything inside my tent, usually still in my backpack. Hope that helps!

@@JoshCarrHikes no problem at all man, thanks for the advice. Your videos are seriously top tier. Easily on the same level with the best RU-vid hikers. I hope you blow up soon (especially with the dope new b-roll openings ahha)
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 3 года назад
Cheers hey, really appreciate it. That b-roll sequence took wayyy too long to film & edit so I might only do them once in a blue moon haha.

Another question. I’m set on the hornet but I’m torn between 1p vs 2p. Would you go smaller than the 2p for the weight saving?
@JoshCarrHikes
@JoshCarrHikes 3 года назад
I’d the 2p in a heartbeat. The extra room you get vs the minimal weight saving is a no brainer in my opinion. After having such space in the 2p I’d struggle going back to anything smaller!
