I am happy that you show the positives about California. California is really a very beautiful state and the landscape is more diverse than any other state in the country.

Did Lassen and Brokeoff together in one day a couple years ago - very tiring! Lassen is also great to do as a night hike for some amazing stargazing, or in the snow in spring for an extra challenge.

Found this video while feeling nostalgic. The last time I did the summit of Lassen was twelve years ago, on the day of the big storms that started the infamous 08 fires in the Butte County area... My hiking group climbed the mountain in time for a huge thunderstorm, and as we watched lightning striking all around the valley, we talked about how those strikes were likely to start fires. We camped that night and when we came back to Chico the next day, indeed the whole forest was on fire. A dire situation but still an unforgettable experience watching the power of nature from that beautiful vantage point.

I just did this hike last Sunday, there was still a lot of snow for the first half of the trail and again across the glacial cirque. Absolutely breathtaking views. Great video!

This is actually a park I want to visit. Though I'd be driving all the way from atlanta georgia. Which I've done it before. I'll probably consider flying next time hah.

As an average hiker, I would not consider this hike anywhere near easy. It’s definitely not the most difficult, but it was definitely a challenge! Then again, I did hike it in the snow.

A snow hike would be nice. Ive seen some years this mountain is still completely covered in snow as late as mid june.

Active means it has erupted within the last 10,000 years. Dormant is between 10,000-100,000 years tho that doesn’t entirely pertain to supervolcanos which can eruptive sequences of more than 100,000 years apart but excluding supervolcanos, after a volcano has not erupted for over 100,000 years it is generally considered extinct but don’t write one off based on those number because lake Tahoe is the remnants of a large and violent volcano that erupted more than a million years ago, but geologists think that due to the basin and range extension, it is possible that if a fracture/fault or fissure opened up in the right place that magma could make its way under the Lake and if magma hits water there could be a very violent eruption! Can you imagine? It’s such a beautiful place so I hope it doesn’t happen there but instead at Mammoth or the Long Valley Caldera where there dramatically fewer people to worry about. Anyway, thanks for your video!
