This hike is not for the faint of heart. It is the tallest mountain in the contiguous U.S. sitting at approx. 14,500ft. We spent two days acclimating at Horseshoe Meadows which sits at approx. 10,000 ft. (every little bit helps) This is the highest I have personally hiked to date. Altitude sickness is a very real thing and not to be taken lightly. Many who attempt this summit fail to do so. My suggestions are start very early to avoid exposure in the heat of the day. Make sure you pre-hydrate to stay ahead of dehydration. Cover exposed skin or use a good sun block as the exposure is intense. Above all, know your limitations and listen to your body. LEAVE NO TRACE! Pack it in, pack it out! This includes your doo doo! Thanks for watching!
