this is literally what the internet is about.. like unreal the amount of effort you put into this video. the amount of information is crazy.. saving this for the future.. hope to visit this island in my lifetime.. also it felt like i visited the island. you killed it man.
Was looking for a guide to Madeira next April and lo and behold Kraig has a guide - someone whose content I've admired for years. I'm not as hardcore a hiker but being from WA it's part of my life and this is super useful since I want to do day hikes.
Decided from your video that this will be my next trip. Been meaning to visit Madeira for a while, so you've convinced me. Thanks for all the valuable information
Watched your videos for a long time and I’m actually heading to Madeira in a week and this has got me so stoked. Great video and I really enjoyed the ASMR video too!
Thank you so much for posting this. I plan to do Madeira in September and I was at a loss on how to research. I appreciate you providing us with a rundown!
Kraig - these videos are absolutely outstanding. Thank you for sharing and inspiring my next adventures! I think Madeira is now a place I'd love to visit.
What were some of the places you personally connected to the most? Not necessarily the most visually beautiful, but the places that gave you that indefinable, special feeling few places do? I feel like that would be a good topic for you to share with your audience. Maybe a Top 10, or even a Top 5, list.
Fantastic! Madeira is a unique island. I don't know if this is an American viewpoint that I have, but civil engineers in the US find ways around things, while in Europe, they have no problem going through something. It could be anecdotal, but I've never seen so many tunnels in such a small space. I was told by a local that there are more tunnels in Madeira than in Switzerland. Quite incredible to me.
Awesome. I was there last October and thought nothing could better The Narrows Day hike in Zion, but the PR1 was outstanding. The fantastic sunrise, clouds, fog moving over dead trees in the valley, etc enhanced this hike to the next level.
In Puerto Moniz, there are two sets of pools- the "new" whixh you recorded, were closed, but the "old" were open and full. i was there a few days before you. i swam and it was not too cold.
Check Azores islands. Pico island, going to the top is a challenge, and some other islands can be a great escape for your videos with the landscape silence. More rainny than in the postcards but the beautiful greens need water. Congrats for the great videos.
Came back on saturday and can agree to 100% absolutely beautiful island and the pico to pico was the best trail i made. I had the full week strong wind so i couldnt start my mini 3 :(
Love this video - I'd love to know your thoughts about traveling - if you ever get scared of flying or some of your craziest experiences while making it to your actual destination. Anyways just thought, thank you for the information and gorgeous cinematography (as always!)
For the hotel stays, did you book ahead before trip or is it possible to have availability on site (as itinerary may change according to weather)? Planning to visit in Feb. Thank you so much for the video! An inspiration for us to visit Madeira and Portugal.
Really hope this channel can influence future travel vloggers how to provide value to the viewer. RU-vid algo pushes too much of the blast music, poor/no mic, slap in drone footage w/o geolocation. Please keep inserting those useful tips (eg, eSim provider for wayfinding). Im curious if you have any “go-to” resources for researching travel target destinations. New sub here, loving your content. Thanks for doing what you do!
Renting an automatic car in Europe is usually much more expensive than renting a manual car. He would probably pay half the price for a manual. Most people still drive a stick over here.
