Hiking Santorini: From the Old Port to Skaros Rock 

On a hot June day in 2024, I departed our cruise ship to enjoy a hike on Santorini. Starting at the Old Port (where the cruise tenders dock), I ascended the donkey trail and followed the Fira/Oia trail to Skaros Rock, a promontory high above the ocean. It was a challenging hike and at times the heat and tourist crowds were oppressive, but the views grew ever more impressive as I made my way along the caldera rim trail of Santorini.
