That not a glacier. Its just the shadow of what it was once. Im not entire sure about the definition, but its undisputeable that the glacier has to move by itself, the mass of ice has to make it move. This... this something doesnt moves like that. Its just dripping away, drop by drop. So instead of blow the people sand into the eyes, you realy should tell them how serious the situation is, that theres maybe in 10 or 20y not even a little piece of this former majestic glacier left anymore. Tell them how this specific glacier looked like 20y ago. What it was 100y ago. And make pics with photoshop, to show them how it will be in near future. Tell them to dont take their car, to use public transport, dont use power to mine `sh it coins`, dont fight summer with climatic control in every room. Tell the to think twice, if something is realy good and necessary ot if it would be only another useless piece to gather dust but needed masses of ressources to be produced. Just try to save it, not to use its last remnants to get another 100 followers, or how its called on YT. But yeah, id like to have wandered on it, when it used to be a glacier.
Hi madetoexplore. I really like you posts. Very informative and autentic. I am travelling to Switzerland with my boyfriend this summer - in august - and we really want to explore this glacier. I am curious if you have saved the coordinates for the photos at 10 seconds and 57 soconds in this youtubevideo? Did you hike the Eggishorn and would you recommend doing it? Huge thanks in advance! Regards, Amalie and Jacob from Denmark.
Yes, they can even go on the Bettmergrat (the ridge between bettmerhorn and eggishorn)...with a safety rope of course...on the other trail options to the glacier (all the way to the cave)...you see plenty of kids too, very family friendly hiking area
