This hike was filmed the last week of June 2024. Second time doing this hike in the last 20-25 years! This hike is infamously hard and most people don't do it more than once every 15-20 years. The route is 4.75 miles one way and gains 3200 feet of elevation. Round trip we did 9.5 miles for the day. Minus the flat sections this trail grade is about 800 feet per mile, about as hard as it gets except for the extreme trails that may approach 1000 feet of elevation gain per mile. The temps were around 60 at the bottom and 50s at the top, on a hot day of 80 or higher this trail gets even worse. I am glad we did this again, even on a cloudy day the views were amazing. I forgot our pot to boil water, cold soaking instant mashed potatoes is not recommended!!!
