As the Holcombes explore the PNW in their Revel 4x4 Sprinter Adventure Van. They dive deep into the Olympic Peninsula and its many backroads and trails. The Ozette Triangle is a classic hike on the Olympic Pennisula of Washington State. It's a triangular loop hike with two parts rainforest and one part craggy, sea-stacked PNW coastline. It also is a way to access the most western point in the contiguous United States. Peter & Kathy Holcombe do this hike in one day and take you along for the ride. This is a wildly diverse section of Olympic National Park that any adventurous visitor shouldn't miss. This same hike can be done as a multi-day adventure. This video will share the logistics and tides, trails, and gorgeous scenery this trail accesses.

Ted from miller tree inn shared with me back in 1988 that those planks were layed back in the 50s and 60s by lumberjacks cut by hand and some wood nails still in some of the planks luv the trails to sandy beach and alava rock beach

Thats neat to hear. It must have been quite a project putting all that in by hand. Thanks!

I was in the Olympic National Park last week, I wish I had watched this video, I would have hiked this trail. I was on that beach from Hoh campground side. Still, it was breathtaking beautiful. Great video.

Nice video ! I really need to get over to the Olympic Peninsula , I live less than 2 hours from it but have never been . I live in Puyallup so there are a lot of trails not too far from me . The trails at Mt. Rainier in the marshy places are the same as what you were on in the rain forest with the planks , same with down south at the Lower Falls campground on the Lewis river I see plank trails a lot . I have a 4Runner so I play around on the WaBDR occasionally , some day I might even finish it LOL although I'm more of a hiking fanatic and the 4Runner is just a distraction .

It sure is gorgeous around Rainier too. I'd love to check out the WA BDR too. Thanks for watching!

I have hiked that trail probably a half dozen times over the years. Off season you might have it all to yourself, but as Peter mentions the boardwalk can get slippery so take caution. My wife and I had a close cougar encounter in March on your last leg, about a half mile from the beach. It was waiting in ambush and ran off as we passed. Good thing there is an abundance of deer in the park and not desperate for food of the two legged kind. Safe travels Peter!

Wow, what an experience. They are fun to see as long as no one gets hurt.

There are NO pine trees on that trail. There are Douglas fir trees, spice trees and Western red cedars.
