Loved your video and your storytelling. Long distance hiking is all about being flexible with plans and your family aced it. Congratulations on completing this beautiful difficult trail.
Awesome video. I am planning on hiking the TMB this year with the same bag (luminara/Levity). Would you recommend the Osprey Luminara, or choose something else?
This is the most poetic and artistic and informative video ever! Thank you! Do you have a stop by stop list of Refugio’s and campsites you could please share? I’m trying to convince my wife and 12 year old son to do this for my 51st birthday in end of July!
Hey! Thanks so much for your kind words! I'm currently working on an article/video that I'll be posting within the next week or two containing all these details. Stay tuned! :)
One of the best TMB captures i have viewed, truly inspiring. Your narrative of this is so amazing, well done to your parents for sharing in your adventure, dad seems a cool fun person to have on a hike. Happy i stumbled upon your channel.
Thanks so much, Angela! Your comment means a lot to me. My dad is truly a riot to have on a hike! One of my favourite hiking partners, that's for sure.
Fantastic movie! We are going to do a trail running TMB tour this summer! 96 miles and 32k of gain. My wife and I are 58 years old and our daughter is 19! We’re looking forward to the challenge! Very inspiring!
Amazing! My dad is also a trail runner & wants to run the TMB one day. Enjoy it! You're going to have the most incredible time 🤗 & thank you for your kind words!
Views are epic! I’m currently looking at hiking the tmb this summer! And I Can’t wait to start hiking with my kids when they’re older sounds like an amazing adventure! 🏔️
What an amazing journey! Way to be flexible, move forward, and kick ass! I love your energy! And may you do more cool hikes! Leave no trace! (My tmb hopes are for 2025)
Thanks so much! This comment truly means a lot to me. My parents and I are actually hiking a portion of the Tour of of the Vanoise in France this summer. We're stoked to be back in the Alps!☺ I hope you're able to get to the TMB in 2025. It's the hike of a lifetime.
Excellent vid! Truly emotional for me listening to you and watching you guy gel along the trek. Narrated nicely. You have a flair for story telling. What a great story of your trek with your parents! Sorry you hurt your ankle the last day. I share the knee probs too with your mom. I hope to challenge myself next July 2024 on the TMB. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you share your journey. Thank you. Great job!!
Great video Kendra! How cool for you to hike this with your parents. I am taking my daughter next Sept (2024), she is 23, me, well I am her 63 yr old mom. I have visited the Swiss alps many times in the spring and wow, how beautiful those flowers are along any landscape we passed. This time, we will see them in a different light. Keep Calm and Hike On!
Thanks! :) You two are going to have the most incredible time. Getting to share the experience with both my parents was the absolute dream. Good luck to both of you! I'll be hiking the Alta Via 1 later this September. I'm with you - I'm so excited to get back there!.
@@kendraslagter, we were in the area last year, but in early May, too much snow in many areas to be able to hike and so couldn't do many trails. Cable cars not running then either, but we still made the best of it, though it wasn't a hiking trip in the first place. We wanted to do the Seceda Ridgeline, but too snowy. So, that will be on my bucket list and perhaps after the TMB, we drive there to see that. Too many place, so little time and now that my daughter is in the working world, her vacation time is very limited. Keep walking and enjoying what spectacular sites we have here on earth.
Wow. Bring back good memories. I had TMB last year in early September. It was tougher than I expected, but it’s worth every pain. That decent from Le Brevent to Les Houches is very cruel. My knees are hurt so much. I also had twisted ankle there. Thanks to ibuprofen, I finished in Les Houches at 7:50 p.m. Just before night.
Unreal! I twisted my ankle on that descent with only 2km left to go. I made it to Les Houches by 6:30, though the original plan was 5pm 😂Definitely a tough trail, but worth every second!
Nope! This is essentially at the highest point between Rifugio Elisabetta and Courmayeur. Right before it starts the descent into Courmayeur, essentially. I think it was one of the most beautiful parts of the entire trail!
hi Kendra. I am new here. I´ve been desperate to hike the TMB and have a good opportunity this year. From your experience, are ticks a problem in TMB? Sorry for the stupid question. I usually hike more north because of that. greetins from Lisbon. Also did you book the refugios in advance? Your parents are pretty amazing, by the way.
Hey! Not a stupid question at all :) I personally didn't have any issues with ticks, nor did I see any. And yes, it's super ideal to book refugios far in advance, as most of them fill up rather quickly! If you can't find space in the more popular refugios that are located directly on the TMB, there are others in the area that might require an extra walk off a side trail for 1-3km (but these ones will usually have space available). I'm posting a Guide to Hiking the TMB article on my website soon, so I'll link it here for you to read once it's finished!
Do you have anytips on planning this hike from Ontario. Do you have an itinerary that you can share with me on where you stayed , the Klms each day and the appropriate cost.
