Hiking the Upper Burro Mesa Pouroff and 3 New Peaks - Big Bend National Park

On my final day at Big Bend National Park, I bailed out on a peak that I wanted to do, and instead went and hiked the Upper Burro Mesa Pour Off trail, along with three smaller high points. I was glad to see the Upper pouroff, since I had been to the bottom five years ago, and I was also glad to summit three new peaks. No matter what you do at Big Bend, you will be treated to awesome and beautiful scenery. So even though I didn't accomplish my original goal, I was still satisfied and rewarded.

Great Adventure, you do a great job of putting things into perspective, the heat, altitude, and distance. Thanks for bringing the raw beauty of Big Bend to us.....

Man, I love your videos. Although I had to chuckle at your description of the yucca fruit as half-potato/half-bananna!

Hi LittleGreenFire, I have no idea when I will be back. It might not be for another five years, or it could be next year. I have no idea, but I definitely want to get back there and get on top of more of the summits. Thanks for watching!

3220 is such a gnarly-looking peak, kind of wished the summit was harder! I want to run from 3656 to kit in the future. If you remember, how did that ridge look between them?

Hi Will, it does look pretty neat, but yes, it was pretty easy. I thought it might be tougher but when I got closer I saw it wasn't that steep. I didn't see the ridge from the summit of 3656, but I think I remember it looked fine from 3220. I think you'll drop only around 300-350 ft. at the most.

I just watched again, and it looks like it may be steeper and tougher closer to Kit, but it's hard to say. I'm sure it's doable though.

Have you ever considered Santiago Peak. I bet you have looked into it...not sure if landowners allow....just curious. How about Castellon in the Park?

Hi Davecat, I've only looked at it a little bit, but never much since it's on private land. There are four summits of Santiago registered on peakbagger.com. It looks like a cool mountain though, and it's one of the TX 2000ft. prominence peaks. I did Cerro Castellon about 6-7 years ago. It was a fun climb.
