The Walls of Jericho Trail is a 9-mile out and back trail near Estillfork, Alabama with a Difficult rating. 1,597 ft in elevation. Because it's a difficult trail to navigate, it's not suitable for amateur hikers. The "Walls" are made from limestone and resemble a large bowl shaped amphitheater. Its main feature is a beautiful hidden waterfall. It's well worth the major effort to get down there. There are beautiful waterfalls and caves to be found! Dustin did this solo this time and I did this with him a few years back with our beagles and I didn't die!

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I really try to capture the beauty of the hike with only enough commentary to make the video make sense. I appreciate your comment greatly.

I grew up in north central Alabama (Decatur) and have done some short day hikes in my younger days. I’m now retired and living in Georgia but still have family in North Alabama and get back to the area from time to time. Since being retired I started section hiking the Appalachian Trail last year 2023 and have managed to complete 1/3 of it to date 2024. Thanks for posting this video, as I’d like to check out this trail on one of my next trips back over that way. I knew there were some trails in this area, but was unfamiliar with this one. Again, thanks for sharing this.

Awesome on the section hiking of the AT. Just keep it up and you will be done before you know it. The Walls of Jericho is in Jackson County near Skyline. It is an easy drive out and usually not a lot of people there and plenty of parking. There is a primitive camping area in the valley about a half mile from the actual Walls. Thanks for the comment we appreciate it when people connect with us.

I did the hike in the winter time a few years back and was in my early 70’s. I had to do several rest stops on the climb out. I am blessed to have done the hike and see some beautiful country, but not kidding the best thing was seeing my car in the parking lot

It is pretty remote but there is a small community called Hytop and it is near the Skyline Wildlife management area. You can enter this area from the trailhead on the Alabama side or there is another trailhead on the Tenneesse side. It is a beautiful area indeed.

Awesome video! Love the incredible drone footage! I've done the Walls of Jericho in March 2022 and it was one of the best hikes I've ever made. Will return in May 2024 to hike it again. Cheers from Germany.

The way the video starts with the music and the wall is just great! Brings a tear to me as Ilove hiking the trail in fall and winter it its not to cold. No need to watch out for snakes.

Most snakes will get out of the way when they sense you coming. The exception is a copperhead, and they can be very hard to see as their camouflage is damn near perfect. Make sure you have a good staff for hiking, a first aid kit, and plenty of water and high energy snacks. Always hike with partners for safety's sake.

I have done some hard hikes. I have hiked Long's twice , Mt. Ida Twice, the Twin Sisters ,and Mt Leconte in the Smoky's 3 times, but coming up that 1100 feet when it is 90 degrees outside with 75% humidity is pretty tough. In the winter it is a piece of cake, but it is a butt kicker in the summer.

@@boomersoutdoors8898 I know what you mean! It was 100 today in Fort Collins and 80 degrees on the trail in RMNP. It made the hike much more difficult. We were like why is this so hard? Plus smoke pouring in from Arizona didnt help! Brutal day.. then ticket on the way home. I will be ranting about that in the weekly update!

DJI Mavic Air 2. I have had it for about 3 years and it is awesome. But use caution with DJI Drones as there are a couple of congressmen trying to get them banned in the US because they are made by China. There are some other great drone companies besides DJI.

Yes, it does have an unique feel , but Alabama seems to have areas like that around the state. The Sipsey wilderness and Little River Canyon also have an unique feel . I enjoyed your vidoe on the Triple Crown Hike and the Sipsey. It is good to meet our creators that are producing hiking videos. Keep up the good work., and thank you for subscribing.

How long has that bridge been there? I hiked to the walls several times over 35 years ago and it wasn't there then...
@boomersoutdoors8898
@boomersoutdoors8898 Год назад
I think that it has been there about 3 years. The last time that I did this hike which was about 3 years ago the old log bridges were still in place. I was really surpirsed by the new bridges over both water crossings.

Why do they always build the prettiest spots at the top of a steep hill. (Or the bottom.

How far is that fall from the spring pool?
@boomersoutdoors8898

It is around 200 to 300 feet. You do have to climb up a couple of 6 foot ledges , but they are pretty easy to get up.

Are there any bears there?
@boomersoutdoors8898
@boomersoutdoors8898 2 месяца назад
As far as I know this area is free from bears. However, there have been bears spotted at times in the area just north of there in Tennessee. I think that even those sightings are rare.

There are Bears there. There are a few encounters, but none ending in tragedy. Our significant bear population was reduced through the combined efforts of ass hol-s and idiots which we seem to have. Through the efforts of our State Department Of Wild Life and Conservation, bears are making a comeback. They are found Statewide, with the majority being in the higher elevations of North Alabama and the bayou sections of our GULF Costal area. The area you are speaking of is gorgeous and well worth visiting.
