8:56 this hike just keeps getting better and better yeah I don’t know if I would say it’s miserable. It looks like a very enjoyable place to visit so much beauty.
It's great seeing the landscape starting to green up. I can't say I've ever experienced an earthquake while out hiking, but glad to see the bottling plant is able to stand up to that despite being abandoned. Mt. Misery looks quite pleasant! Loved seeing the covered bridge, too.
Yes, it's wonderful to see the greenery. Are things starting to get greener where you are? Yes, exactly - Mt. Misery is a lovely place to hike despite it's name.
Exploring an abandoned building in Valley Forge sounds like quite the adventure! It's fascinating to imagine the stories and history behind such places. The scenic surroundings of Colonial Springs add an extra layer of intrigue to the hike. Thanks friend for taking us along on this journey of discovery!Big Like!👍
How exciting that you were out hiking when the earthquake hit - thank goodness it wasn’t much bigger! We heard about it on the news! The park is looking very green now. Nice trails and cool exploring at the old bottling plant. The water looks fresh and sounds relaxing. Happy Spring! 😄👌🌻🌻🌻 - Jen
Oh wow, I didn't realize the earthquake would make national news. This was our first one since 2011. I really enjoyed this hike - so much to see along the way.
I love finding old ruins like this. All the old stone work is so cool. I felt the earthquake sitting on my couch. Mt Misery doesn’t look miserable at all. 👍
The register box was unique. Wonderful trail. I enjoyed the sounds of nature. The old bottling company was a sight to see. Awesome tour of the old place. Definitely a great reward of the hike. Glad you weren’t affected by that earthquake! Crazy!
Yes, the register box is here because the Horse shoe trail runs for something like 140 miles and is used by backpackers. Glad you enjoyed seeing the ruins of the bottling company. It was a strange day with the earthquake, but a beautiful day.
I love how you take time to look at the turkey tails and other beautiful aspects in nature. The green is really starting to come out on the trees. The old building from back in the day is so cool. What?! That earthquake happened while you were out there! That is wild. Beautiful covered bridge. Very fun hike and video. 🙌🏻
The ruins are in pretty good shape for how old they are. Yes, the green is so nice. I find winter is the most challenging month to film videos in so I'm glad that is over.
Valley forge holds a dear place in my heart . The movie silent running has a valley forge ship in it . Finding little flowers and small green outbursts of life is so nice . This old building reminds me of a house on inchagoill . Where they kept saint Patrick .
I love the names of those two mountains. 😅 Another great-looking trail. That was a very cool old building. Stone masonry back in the day was a real art. Thanks for sharing. 👌👍
Yes, they do have great names. Yes, the stonework really was an art form and the fact that the walls of this place still stand is impressive. Thanks for your comment.
I love this hike!! Haven't been in a while but it's incredible because I was hiking this very trail when the 2011 earthquake hit the area!!! The bottling plant is really flowing with all of the rain we've had....wow!
That is crazy that you were here during the 2011 earthquake. This is such an awesome trail and fairly short too for all the things you get to see along the way.
Yes, super neat that these ruins are open to explore. Yes, earthquakes in our area are pretty rare. I read something online that because of the type of rock we have on the east coast, even a small earthquake can be felt farther than it would on the west coast.
Yes, it was only a mild earthquake. It was just crazy it happened right when I was in the old building. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Yes, lots of running water and streams in this park. We have had lots of heavy rain which is making things run a bit higher than normal. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Love the ruins. The vibration and energies that comes from these places are amazing but sometimes can be draining. I faintly remember this place. Have a great week family 🤗
I love hikes like this that lead out to abandoned places; it seems like there's a LOT of them on the East Coast. If I ever get out to Philadelphia I'm gonna have to check out this park!
Glad you enjoyed this one. Yes, we do have a lot of places like this. Valley forge is a great park because it's a National Historic Park - so there are lots of monuments and historic things to see from when George Washington and the Continental Army stayed here - plus the great hikes too.
What a pretty area! Glad you were safe and did not even notice the earthquake! Thankfully, the only quakes I have exerienced have been minor ones, but they are always a danger!
Yes, this is a neat park. There are the monuments/ historical side to valley forge and then there is also nice hiking. Glad you've only experienced minor earthquakes too. I bet a really strong one is a scary experience.
@@hikingoutdoorfamily They still talk about the 1964 earthquake in Anchorage. When I lived there, there were still lots of photos and displays of the consequences, no fun.
Abandoned places are so cool, you can learn so much from those places. Your videos are super cool. Love nature and the scenery. Great job! support to the channel. #thinbluelanervlife
Valley Forge has a lot of fun stuff to check out. I haven't hiked this one yet but have done Mt Joy. The quake was interesting it's been awhile since we had one that was felt in our area. Great day to be out.
Yes, Valley Forge is a great park. I normally just walk around the historic areas and the huts - but this was nice to get more into the woods area of the park.
That's cool to see the ruins! We get a lot of earthquakes here. Nothing too serious, but they keep talking about "The Big One" is still to come. I don't feel most of the earthquakes. I think if you're at home sitting there you will notice it more. We do get the texts and Facebook pages lighting up with "Did you Feel it?" messages, lol😃 Nice park to go explore😁
That's interesting and funny that you get the same type of texts that I got during the earthquake. Our last earthquake here was back in 2011. I guess because it is so infrequent people really were caught off guard.
It is great to see spring in your state! Nice trail with some cool trees. The ruins are so nice to see and you could go in!! I rarely feel earthquakes unless they register over a 4.0. Is it normal to get earthquakes up that way? There have been a few recently it seems
Yes, spring is finally here. I was surprised that these ruins were open, but it looks like they have stabilized the windows. We normally don't get earthquakes where I am. The last one we had that you could feel was back in 2011.
Sarah, I love to hike in the national park units, especially those that are not know for their hiking tails. I did a couple of short hikes in Jockey Hollow, part of Morristown National Historical Park a couple of weeks ago. So many people just do the pull outs, grab the Instagram shot and jump back into the car.
wow never thought to try out valley forge when I lived in Philadelphia. That looks like good drinking water. with the water filtration kit. I still would like to see you carry a radio with you. In case cell service drops and family is near by for you to talk with them. faster than a cell phone.
Valley forge is great because it has all the historic stuff and then also some nice hiking trails. I do have a set of Talkpod GMRS radios that I bring for certain situations when I know cell service will be poor.
2.5 isn't bad if it isn't real rugged. The less my knee bends the happier it is lol. Ah. Well I might still be able to since it's level after the elevation climb. Hmmm. Maybe not. All those stairs might do me in. Pretty little stream. Loving the ruins. I like a hike that takes to things to see like this. It's very cool that you can go inside and explore around. Oh wow. That would have been crazy to experience that earthquake. I've never felt one. I'm really ok with that. We went out gravel roading this weekend and I noticed how green everything was finally getting. I'm glad. I do not enjoy seeing nothing but brown nakey trees 😆 The dam is pretty with the water flowing over it. Really looks like a great park. I wondered how common it was for an earthquake to hit over your way. I thought it probably wasn't a normal thing. Love the covered bridge. Thanks for taking us along.
I think this one could be tough on your knee because it is a bit steep at the start and then there are some rocky sections. It's neat to hike to an abandoned building or something historic to see. I guess this structure is pretty stable because if it wasn't I feel like NPS would close it. Valley Forge is a national historic park run by the national park service. Haha, I don't blame you for not wanting to feel an earthquake.
