Hiking To Cathedral Tree, Astoria Column & Eating Washington Wild Blackberries 

Sorta sad that they hardly ever mention Sacagawea when they're honor'n Lewis n Clark hahahaha .. I'm post'n just a tiny bit of info here .. she was very key in their success :) .. hope ya don't mind :) ........... Sacagawea ( / ˌ s æ k ə dʒ ə ˈ w iː ə / ; also Sakakawea or Sacajawea ; May 1788 - December 20, 1812) was a Lemhi Shoshone woman who is known for her help to the Lewis and Clark Expedition in achieving their chartered mission objectives by exploring the Louisiana Territory . Sacagawea traveled with the expedition thousands of miles from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean . She helped establish cultural contacts with Native American populations in addition to her contributions to natural history . Huggles from Bama :)

Awesome video Ausia. Spectacular view's. The tree you can walk through is amazing. I think for your hiking your feet would love to have a pair of Keens Women's Whisper shoes. That are a very rugged sandal and I've washed mine numerous times with a load of clothes and let them air dry they still look new. Treat yourself you deserve it.

Wow just wow. I really like the plants. Go Moo Moo love black berries. Food on the go. 😎🐕 sandles are tough to navigate in. You and the tribe make the day better.

I believe the trim at the top of column, below platform is called egg and dart, the ovals life the dart meaning death, circle of life. Also used in building construction as moldings. Thank you for sharing this video, my knees would not make it to the top, then I would have been stuck. Lol.

Beautiful. I love blackberries. When I was a kid I'd pick them and my grandmother would make BlackBerry pie and jam. Homemade, wow. I was always filling buckets for her. Lol. Also, you rock girl and your legs have some really great muscle. I'm envious, but lazy!

Black snake w/red stripe, non poisonous. Yep where the berries are those snakes are looking for rodents and small birds. Aaahhh the food chain😂😂 you should have let Jimmy hold onto MooMoo and went to top of the column to see the views neat forest trail, looks like most of the column visitors all drive up there. I love those kinds of walk ,as of right now I’m not aloud to go on those kinds till after my knee replacement,,,☹️ So I’m doing a lot of swimming,,,keep smiling,and stay safe,

Grew up a stones throw from there. We used to go up there to explore...we called it The Pipeline Trail...of course that was years before it was developed for the public, just rough ground. Some things to explore: “salmon berries” they look like a raspberry but are a pale orangie-yellowie color. Not as tasty as blackberries or raspberries but not terrible either. If you see what looks like four leaf clover leaves on a ground cover...about 3-5” tall with a narrow green stem..these we called wild sauerkraut. Leaves and stems edible. Stems sourish but tasty, very moist and crunchy. Also the attractive ferns that grow in a clump have a section at the root base that is also edible and taste just like licorice. A great place to grow up, everyday an adventure, fishing/exploring at the river, playing at the river or going to the beach to dig clams. One neighborhood family was of the Clatsop Indian Tribe and taught all of us about how to jerk fish and venison. Wild edibles and how to really grow a garden. If it had been raining a lot for several days (most Northwest kid’s, usually play outside in the rain) one or two Mom’s would pack up the neighborhood, about 12 of us, drive to the Column and challenge us to run up and down, over and over until we could break the boy scout or girl scout record. All pretend of course but we would fall for it every time = quiet kids for rest of day. PS: The hill you are parked on or near to access the trail...winter snow plows kept away from it and we could sled all the way down to the river.

The sign said that J J Astor did NOT go DOWN with the Titanic. Technically that is a true statement. He did drown but his floating body was recovered.

pick them blackberries aand maaake yeaaa a blackberry cobbler 1 cup flour 2 cups sugar 1 and 1/4 cup milk mix milk flour sugar together just until its kind of lumpy pour over 1 and half cups of fruit with juice if out of aaa caaan baked 350 for 45 mintes to 60 minuites or until golden brown on top aaand bubbly thru out

I think the mini pinecone are actually called hops, like in beer. The plant is called hop katkins or something like that.
