Took my family to Beaver Creek back around 1980 when it was a campground. Spent a week there and my kids talked about it for 20 years after they had such a good time.
@@CactusAtlas We rode our Mountain Bikes as far as we could go, on bikes, then locked them to a tree with a 6 foot steel cable, and hiked the rest of the way. That cut out miles of walking. Did you see the hand print carved into the cliff face up there?
Great video. This place looks amazing (aside from the modern petroglyphs). The title of the video would also be right at home on a completely different video streaming site...
Haha! Or just aptly named after some of the people who visit. Glenn made a little crack (ba-dum-tss) about the name of the place after seeing a particular person but yeaaaaah. That clip didn't make the cut. 🤣
Nice video and nice area. Do continue to protect your skin. Arizona has too many people anymore, just look at Fossil Creek area. You have to get permits to do anything anymore. I grew up in Arizona ages ago when it was less crowded. I know Arizona very well and know it is a beautiful place. I now live in Oregon where there are less regulations. Thanks for sharing.
There are some real petroglyphs along off Bell trail, and its fun to spot them along the hike. Sad to see all the graffiti at the crack. It wasn't that bad 20 years ago. Shame on those people
I was chuckling along with you! I always enjoy your videos and look forward to them. This one was exceptionally beautiful, great camera work! Love the desert in the Spring! You’re by far my favorite U-tuber for adventures.
You could also wear a cloth around your neck that is filled with silicon beads and absorb water (cold water) to keep the blood flowing to your brain about two degrees cooler to prevent sun stroke.
Oh gosh. It's been a while since Glenn has been down South Kaibab trail but we don't imagine it's really comparable to hiking to the Crack. The hike to the Crack doesn't have such a severe elevation change.
The graffiti really is a shame. I can't help but feel like once upon a time in the past it would be a place where there were petroglyphs but can't say. The water would for sure have been alluring and very welcome to people.
Well now Amy has me all bummed out :P When I read the title my head just started filling with wonderful puns, but I guess I'll just say how beautiful the hike was and what an Arizona gem that place is and all the other blah blah details :D
The Bell Trail parking area is probably not suitable for an RV of that length. The forest service's website for the trail, however, states that there's a parking area just north (the Bruce Brockett Trailhead) that has parking for trailers which might accommodate a larger vehicle. That trail meets up with the Bell Trail.
Thanks for sharing this place with us all. Hopefully, everyone will treat this area with care. It would be very nice to believe it will not change over time. The wall art is nothing. I live in Southern California. There is limitless paint that covers every nice place near any city. It is the topography of the area that is nice. There are caves that are completely covered in paint. However, i can see the beauty of the shape of the caves. It is still there. I guess the graffiti is / are modern day pictographs.
Looks beautiful out there in WBC! The water looks extremely refreshing, especially with weather conditions like you had out there. Great video and area to hike, I really enjoyed following you on the trail! Have a wonderful weekend!
Thankfully that area is cooler that here in the Phoenix valley so still a bit chilly in the water but will be perfectly refreshing once we're in the real heat of July and August. Thanks so much and hope you have a great weekend as well! 😄
Looks beautiful up there! I personally have never visited the crack but it looks cool and refreshing (and I agree, maybe a little too early for swimming right now!)
Good morning! In all honesty you are the only utubers (if that's even a word 🤣) I follow and you never seem to disappoint so thank you! Loved following you on this hike and chuckling along with you. However I don't think I would've jumped even 20 years ago, my Groom of 25 years would jump to this day if I let him 😂. Hope to make it out there someday. Curious, have you ever had an encounter with a rattlesnake on your adventures? I'm in SoCal and I've had about 8 encounters 😳. Sorry for rambling on, thank you again!
To this day Glenn jokes about seeing one one day but no, never seen one of and about yet. And thank you for the kind comment. We truly appreciate it. 😊
Wow!!! The first I heard of The Crack was from a young cousin who lives in Phoenix. I had no idea what she was talking about. Now I know why she wanted to go there. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for filming this. I went there a few years ago and had lunch down by the stream with my hiking group. Was great to cool off as it was June. Keep up sharing your adventures!
Thank you so much! Certainly is a good way to cool up there this time of year and a picnic lunch with that view sounds amazing. Thanks again for watching and commenting. We appreciate it.
I’ve done that hike. I believe I might even have a video on it. I will have to go back and look. I just love Sedona! 🥰❤️ and I love that name. Wet beaver creek!
Thank you! I don't know if I'll ever get out there, because 3.5 miles is a lot of walking for someone with a painful back. But, I certainly will be glad to walk some of that. What is the address to the entrance? How do you find it?
We try to provide Google map directions in the description of each video (not always possible when some videos are multiple locations). You can find the parking lot pinned on this map and from there it is the Bell Trail you want to take. goo.gl/maps/W1HvqbQ5yzRsHfPN7
Don't really remember but looking at extra footage we filmed and there is a sign that says: Open to: Hiking, equestrians (lower part), and bicycles outside of Wilderness. So I'm guessing the answer is yes and no. Yes, but not past the sign in the video that shows Wet Beaver Wilderness would be my guess.
I used to live in Camp Verde and knew about Wet Beaver Creek but didn’t ever see it in person. I am writing this in late March so it is in full flood stage now. Beautiful area. ❤️🌻❤️🌻❤️
Another beautiful area is Bull Pen. I moved to Montana in 1989 so I don’t know if is open to the public or not. I just remember hiking in with my Girl Scout troop in the early 80’s. ❤️🌻❤️🌻❤️
Thank you! Nope, no permits are needed to head back there. Not sure about biking. I don't believe they are allowed inside the Wet Beaver Wilderness area from what I'm seeing.
Heads up: in the event you are still looking for "Seldom Seen Slim" he is buried in the ghost town of Ballarat in the death valley area. You can see his grave here on Ghost Town living, episode "Hiking to the roughest ghost town in death valley" episode. :-) Also, just a comment for you. Noticed you take a lot of shots where you are placing the camera down and walking the trail away. A couple of these shots are great for scenery reference but you are doing a lot of them back to back in your videos and it does in my opinion get a bit distracting. Just a thought to maybe shooting visuals as you walk so we get more of a feel of being with you on an adventure verses watching you experience it. Anyway, your offering great content, thanks!
