Tonto Natural Bridge Trail
Length: 1.40 mile
Elevation Gain: 305 feet
Route Type: Loop
I didn't know that I have been passing by this enormous natural bridge whenever I drive by Payson. I finally visited this place and I asked myself, why did I just come here now? The hike down to the tunnel is pretty and easy but the hike back up is hard due to steepness. My favorite part is just right under the falls where there are water droplets like rain inside the tunnel! I stayed a little while admiring the beauty around me under the bridge.
Fossil Creek Waterfall
Length: 2.60 mile
Elevation Gain: 249 feet
Route Type: Out and Back
When I went to Bob Bear Trail Fossil Creek, I thought it was the same thing. But, they are both different incredible hikes. I have a permit for this for July but unfortunately, I was not able to go so I tried to get another permit for August and I got a closer parking from the trailhead which is awesome because did not have to walk longer! It was an exposed trail at the beginning but as soon as you reach the creek, there are lots of shade. At first, I didn't want to get in the water because it is really cold. I was contented soaking my feet to feel refreshed. I wanted to get a picture so bad inside the falls and I got wet. It was super cold but it didn't matter in a few second, I was having fun! As usual, most of the people are leaving when I arrived at the place so I got to enjoy it all to myself before I start to head back.
